Then, we try to do the unthinkable and defend Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler. Spoiler: Kapler didn't make our Top 10 this week in the Power Rankings. Kapler was heavily scrutinized this weekend for his managerial decisions, mainly surrounding his bullpen. But three games for a rookie manager won't decide whether or not he's fit for the job or what to expect from the Phillies this season. Mistakes happen, but because Kapler is different than most (all) other managers, he isn't getting any benefit of the doubt. The show comes to a close with few thoughts on the debut of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani, who picked up his first win in Major League Baseball with a solid performance against the Oakland Athletics.
