I am Priscilla Rice, and I am coming to you from Live Oak Recording Studio in Berkeley, California. I am joined on the phone today by the Founder and the Chief Visionary Officer of BNI, Dr. Ivan Misner. Hello, Ivan, how are you and where are you?
Ivan:

Hi. I am doing fantastic. I am in Austin right now, but I am getting ready to go to the international BNI convention, which I will be at next week. I am going to have a thousand of my closest friends from all over the world. More than 70 countries will be there, and my guest today is also going to be at the BNI convention.
My guest today is a long-time friend. I want to introduce him here in a minute, Norm Dominguez. I have known Norm for about 30 years. This is his 30th anniversary in BNI, and you will get a 30 year anniversary pin, my friend, I promise, at the convention.
Norm started in BNI as a member. Then he became Executive Director. Then District Director. Then National Director for the United States and did a brief stint as the Chief Operating Officer and had the role of CEO for 8 years. Today he is Vice Chair Emeritus of BNI.
The reason I have invited him on the podcast today is that he has written a book called The Magic of Positivity. So I just have a couple of questions for Norm on why positivity is so incredibly important for networking. Norm, welcome to the BNI Podcast.
Norm:

Well, Ivan, thank you very much. After all of these years, it is really a treat and an honor to share this podcast recording with you and your audience because positivity has really been a part of my life way before BNI. But why is it important? Because it makes us feel good. It is pretty simple, and if I can’t make it simple, it’s not worth it to me. To me, positivity cones from within.
Ivan:

Can I just add one other thing? If you go back and listen to my podcast earlier, for those of you listening, I did a podcast earlier when I talked about the five or seven ways that I listed for better networking. Number two, and this is based on a survey of 3400 people–number two was positive attitude.
