I am Priscilla Rice, and I am coming to you from Live Oak Recording Studio in Berkeley, California. I am joined on the phone today by the Founder and the Chief Visionary Officer of BNI, Dr. Ivan Misner. Hello, Ivan, how are you and where are you?
Ivan:

Hey, Priscilla. I just got back recently from the International Convention in Long Beach. It was the last convention in the US for a few years because we are now- 60% of the organization is global. We are going to hold these international conventions all around the world.
Priscilla:

That is a great idea.
Ivan:

It was awesome. There were over 1000 people. It is like a United Nations meeting. If you ever hear of a conference or a convention for BNI in your area, you have to go. I promise you, you have to go. First, I would love to meet you. Second, you are going to be blown away.
So we should jump into the topic. I have here a guest. Her name is Tiffanie. That name may sound familiar. Tiffanie Kellog. Tiffanie has been a member since 2005. She is a top Asentiv trainer. Priscilla, you mentioned Networking for Success, and I think the phrase you used was “top networking experts”. Well the truth is there are about three or four other people who I have said, “Yeah, you are a top networking expert. You get to go on the site.” One of them is our very own Tiffanie Kellog. I think, Tiffanie, you have been on what, 25 of these podcasts now?
Tiffanie:

I don’t think that many yet. I think it is only six or so.
Ivan:

You have been on more than any other person. It is great to have you back. The topic of your podcast is , oh my goodness, did you say, “I Don’t Have Time for BNI”? Talk to me about that.
Tiffanie:

It is something I hear BNI members say all of the time. How about doing a 1-2-1? “I am so busy.” How about doing this training? “I am so busy.” I just remember all the time talking about “I Am Too Busy for BNI.”
Really, if we are too busy for BNI, does that mean we are too busy for referrals?
Ivan:

Yeah. That is exactly right. It is crazy when I hear people say, “I am so busy that I need to step back.” It’s called hiring people. Have you ever heard this commercial? I know we have a lot of material to cover. Have you heard this commercial? I think it was for the telephone. I will really date myself. It was for the Yellow Pages. It was called Tom’s Desk. Tom had one desk in his retail shop.
