Let’s S-T-O-P the Emotional Vomit

Bible Study Evangelista Show show

Summary: The new study series, Healing the Father Wound, begins next week, and I am full of excited terror for us both! If you are new to Bible Study Evangelista, a warm welcome to you. Because there are several hundred new sign-ups for the new series, who have probably never heard of the LOVE the Word™ method that we will be using throughout Healing the Father Wound, I am offering the never-before-released talk I gave in May at the National Catholic Bible Conference for you to listen to this week.
The LOVE the Word™ journal I use in all my series along with the weekly LOVE the Word™ exercises (below) is available here. A preview is available in the product description (scroll down a little) so you can see its content and instruction guide. If you prefer, you can get a free downloadable page each week to the right. There are tutorials on LOVE the Word™ to the right too.
Here's the private Facebook discussion page for the Healing the Father Wound series, if you want to join in the conversation with a little more privacy, as I do.
A Special Message
I don't want you to be caught off guard, or to feel attacked when it happens, so if you have a wound, expect it to be tweaked within the next several weeks, if it hasn't been already. In my book, Unleashed, I talk about pop quizzes - difficult circumstances that are invitations from God to practice what He's teaching. Because we are talking about the father wound and wounds in general, anticipate that God will offer you a pop quiz, and you will have an encounter with someone who brings up or provokes the feelings associated with your wound.
Please try very hard to look beyond the person through whom this experience comes to the invitation beneath it. The experience feels negative because it involves the emotions associated with our wound, but this is a gift, I promise. Spend some time discerning what you feel, the patterns in the emotions, and write down any memories that surface (a free journal page is available to the right).
Pop quizzes are a normal, natural, even welcome part of the process (I know, I know!), because they are absolutely necessary to healing. If you want immediate help, get Unleashed and begin reading. Or jump on the Facebook Discussion Group. Otherwise, just hang tight! We will talk about this in depth throughout the series.

Welcome to Gena and Rowena, Bible Study Evangelista's newest friends of the show!
Study Audio

LOVE the Word™ is a Bible study method based on Mary's own practice: lectio without the Latin. This week’s LOVE the Word™ exercise is according to a Thomistic* personality approach.
Listen (Receive the Word.)
"Be angry, but sin not; commune with your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD" (Ps 4:4).

S - Sin not
T - Tell God
O - Offer the right sacrifices
P - Put your trust in God
Observe (Connect the passage to recent events.)
Maybe you do not have an anger issue, but what is your issue? What is your emotional vomit? Have you had a recent pop quiz? The S-T-O-P acronym works for all sin. Where is God speaking to you about your out-of-control behavior? How is your behavior related to your wounds?
Verbalize (Pray about your thoughts and emotions.)
In your journal or on your journal page (get a free page to the right), write down what you believe the Holy Spirit is saying to you through this verse about your behavior patterns:
Lord, this is what happened in my last pop quiz...
This is what I think you are telling me about my behavior...
But I worry about...
My fears about my behavior patterns and emotional vomit are...
I need your help here...
Entrust (May it be done to me according to your word!)
Lord, I believe I can STOP. Holy Spirit, please help me by reminding me to practice STOP be...
