Chester Morris played Boston Blackie on the radio show and in the movies. The character was created by Jack Boyle With his first Boston Blackie story appearing in a 1914 issue of the American magazine Other actors in the show were Leslie Woods who played Boston Blackie 's girlfriend Mary Wesley, and Richard Lane who played Inspector Faraday. The announcer was Harlow Wilcock. The show first aired on NBC radio On June 23, 1944 and continued until September 15. On April 11, 1945 the show would be revived with Richard Kollmar Playing the lead role. There were over 200 episodes produced between 1944 and 1950 in which during that time, Maurice Tarplin Played the role of Inspector Faraday. In 1941, a 58 minute movie was made Starring Chester Morris called Meet Boston Blackie.
