WS821: Girls Guns & Glory and T Sisters

The Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour Podcast show

Summary: GIRLS GUNS & GLORY have been making a name for themselves through relentless touring (about 200 gigs a year worldwide), the release of four critically acclaimed records, a slew of local awards, including being the Boston Music Awards first act of its genre to win Act of the Year, and international awards (Independent Artist of the Year at the French Country Music Awards). Boston’s rising stars foursome found from early ’50s rock ‘n’ roll icons such as Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, and Buddy Holly, as well as country greats like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. The band's latest is a live album honoring their hero Hank Williams. T SISTERS are a genuine sister singing group based out of Oakland, CA. The group’s subtle throwback aesthetic calls to mind classic trios past, from the Andrews Sisters and 1960s girl-groups to the sirens from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Anchored by influences spanning folk, country, gospel, klezmer and early-90’s R&B, each sister brings a unique vocal and lyrical style to a sound that is at once modern and timeless. WoodSongs Kid: Kitty Amaral is a 13 year-old award winning fiddle player from Elk Creek, Virginia.
