001 The Unexamined Life

Wisdom Podcast show

Summary: Socrates said that “The unexamined life is not worth living.” What is the unexamined life? It is a thoughtless, mindless life that is on- autopilot. It is life live as a dream. It is like living someone else’s life. We think of Plato’s cave analogy, or The Matrix movie’s “computer-generated dream world.” Buddhist teaches that there are three poisons, attachment, aversion, and delusion. Why are we here? What’s the purpose of life? And more importantly, how can we wake up to reality? We can question everything, think clearly, look for hidden assumptions, observe carefully, be mindful, and follow the evidence.
