Summary: Alexandrina graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Public and Private Sector Organizations, writing her capstone on organizational comparisons between publicly traded and privately held firms in the couture fashion industry. She also designed and constructed a collection of dresses made entirely from recycled goods as a benefit for Shop Well With You, a cancer wellness nonprofit, as part of her capstone. After working as a production coordinator for San Francisco Fashion Week and a freelance ethnographer for the Hip-Hop Theater Festival, Alexandrina returned to school earning her M.A. in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University. Her M.A. thesis examined adolescent girls of color and their race and gender identity development online using a dress-up doll website. While pursing her M.A., she participated as a yearlong artist-in-residence at June Jordan School for Equity where she taught yoga and digital media to 9th-11th graders. Her research interests include hip-hop cultural studies, digital racial formation, critical media pedagogy, and girlsâ?? and youth culture.
