Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Defensive Line | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1982

As we continue with our outlook on the Indianapolis Colts roster heading into the offseason, we now jump over to the defensive side of the ball.  The Colts' defense definitely turned some heads in 2018 despite a first-year defensive coordinator and so many young pieces contributing throughout the year. Today we focus on the defensive line, a group that had some great performances this year, but also needs an infusion of talent just the same. Margus Hunt and Jihad Ward, two guys at opposite ends of their career, could be said to headline the Colts' free agent group, along with Al Woods. Hunt has continued to be productive despite his being undersold before signing with the Colts and doing it in two different defensive systems. His age, and what Ballard sees as his legitimate expected production to be in 2019 will play a huge role in whether he is brought back or not. Woods, who like Hunt is 32 right now, but as a sort of a one-trick pony against the run game, his future with the Colts may be in doubt, but Ballard has been known to throw out some surprises. Ward, on the other hand, presents youth, solid production with limited experience as well as the versatility the team is hoping to acquire to build around this up-and-coming defense.  Amongst the rest along the line, it's fun to think of Kemoko Turay, Tyquan Lewis, Al Qadin-Muhamad all developing into a solid rotation of young talent, while the team still has the services of Jabaal Sheard and Denico Autry on the roster. Grover Stewart and Hassan Ridgeway were basically designated run defenders, but they too are young and you can see that only a move here, or a move there this offseason could give the unit a monster boost for the 2019 season. How it all shakes out will be extremely interesting to watch as this unit could very well provide a ton of change for the Colts between now and training camp. Learn more about your ad choices.  Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | O-Line | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1763

Today we continue on with our positional outlook for the Indianapolis Colts as they head into a pivotal offseason under Chris Ballard and Frank Reich. We've gone through the receivers, quarterbacks, running backs and tight ends, and now we need to look at one of the position groups that achieved great things for the offense somewhat unexpectedly. Going into the season, everyone was excited about the prospects of rookie Quenton Nelson, but most fans and analysts weren't very high on the right side of the Colts' line. And rightly so. However, as it turned out, Matt Slauson did get injured, but was very good while he was healthy. Mark Glowinski filled in, and did so well that he earned himself a 3-year extension with the Colts. The right tackle position was a mess in training camp, but another rookie, Braden Smith, also surprised everyone with how well he could navigate the position and remained the Colts' starter throughout the remainder of the season.  The Colts received very good contributions from Evan Boehme while Ryan Kelly was out with injury, and they still have some familiar faces, with experience that they can work with for depth at a couple of spots along the line as well.  Now the process of determining what to do through free agency arises. Do the Colts go after one of the more seasoned linemen in order to top off their line, spending starter money at one of the positions to create that starter competition through camp? Or, do they try their hand at finding the younger, more underappreciated talent in free agency? Additionally, the Colts will have a look at the NFL Draft and see what they can grab there as well. This will be a key offseason in terms of finding that good depth along one of the best lines in the NFL in 2018 should some sort of injury arise with a starter. We'll see what Ballard chooses to do, but here, Matt Danely gives his opinions on the offensive line as the Colts move into the offseason. Learn more about your ad choices.  Colts Cast: Positional review heading into the offseason | Receivers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1660

As we continue into the Indianapolis Colts positional review as the team heads into a pivotal offseason, we come to the receiving corps today. The Colts' WR bunch is one of the most interesting positional groups throughout the roster. They've got some young talent that they will be hoping to develop, but they also have many questions that need answered before they consider any options from around the league. Several of those receivers from the 2018 roster are set to be free agents when the league year is set. The Colts have some real needs in terms of filling out their group's efficiency at the position, but have a mixed bag being offered from the pool of outside free agents. Which of those who were on the 2018 roster will be re-signed to continue to develop within Frank Reich's system? Will they find that legit No. 2 WR from the free agent pool, or will they find their needs through the NFL Draft? Matt Danely gives you his outlook on this position group for the offseason. The two also went through some of the underclassmen that will be in the draft pool for the Colts, what the Colts may, or may not want to do throughout the offseason in terms of collecting more youthful talent versus through free agency, as well as which positions are the most critical to fill before the 2019 season. Zach gives great detail and insight into each of these prospects that he witnessed in Mobile, and is must-listen material for Colts fans who are looking ahead and for some names to watch going forward.  Colts Cast: Positional review heading into offseason | Tight Ends | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1319

As the Indianapolis Colts head into the offseason, they're going to begin making moves as they turn over some of the roster in preparation for the 2019 season. We've talked about their quarterback and running back situations already, and now we're on to the tight ends. The Colts currently have 4 tight ends set to be rostered for next season, and with the current combination of youth and experience at the position, it will be a group that presents some serious depth. Amongst that group, they've got a nice mix of players who have dual skillsets and a couple who are more dedicated blockers or receivers within the gameplan. The team also has a restricted free agent in Ross Travis to look at before they even officially move into free agency. As for what the free agency field has to offer; they'll be some names to look at, but do any of them present the right template between skill and age to pique the interest of Chris Ballard? Today Matt Danely gives you his outlook at the position for the 2019 season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
