What an engaging and passionate scientist - and he's a proper gentleman to boot!  I had a great time chatting to Dr. Barrie Tan late last year, on the fascinating science behind Vitamin E. He has dedicated decades of his life to researching it, and it shows. I for one did not realize that the nutritional orthodoxy had screwed up in properly understanding how it works in the physiology (it's not just "cholesterol" that they got badly wrong). Vitamin E actually has many forms - take the wrong ones and it can backfire on you. Focus on the right ones, and will be on your way to enhanced health (along with diet and exercise of course). Okay this is a big one - a really big one. Professor Vladimir Subbotin has published multiple papers on his groundbreaking hypothesis, which turns the LDL / ApoB /LDLp dogma on it's head. Do LDL particles really invade your artery wall - attacking from the blood flowing through your arteries? Or is this hypothesis completely incorrect - and not in line with the actual science and pathology of Atherosclerosis? Note that Subbotin's hypothesis is not PROVEN - for example there may be early deposition from lumen side, with the adventitial VV being far more important in the milieu nonetheless. Also, even if early deposition from the lumen side does occur - it is still only because of the Root Causes we list! So it's still moot in any case! ;-) Find out in this fascinating Episode! Ep79 reveals the more nuanced interactions between Vitamin D, Latitude, UV and the impacts of Covid19 on different countries around the globe. Note that there's more to the sun than Vitamin D - there's Nitric Oxide and more too! We know that there is a strong seasonal effect with Covid19 already - Northern Hemisphere (Europe/USA) hit really hard coming out of their winter, while Southern hemisphere (Australia/NZ) getting away with incredibly low impacts.
