 S2, Ep 2 - Parent Vs 'Peerent' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:36:52

Are you a parent, or a 'peerent'? If you're the later, while you likely have the best of intentions, you are not setting your child up for success and unfortunately doing more harm than good. Tim Dansie defines 'peerents', who want to be a friend instead of a parent, rarely say 'no' to their kids and provide little by way of rules or boundaries. Simply put: The child is in control. A parent, on the other hand, has rules. But most importantly, they listen. They don't necessarily say 'no' straight away, they hear the teenager out and don't make rushed decisions. Instead, they take the teenager through a negotiation process. Tim talks about how you can become a parent, instead of a 'peerent', so you can build a relationship based on trust. Tim also shares about resilience, to help your children develop character to overcome life's challenges. About Tim Dansie: Tim is a registered Teacher and Psychologist.
