Trojans Talk OT show

Trojans Talk OT

Summary: Trojans Talk OT is a podcast series designed to inform and entertain occupational therapy practitioners, students, educators, and our friends. Broadcasting from the University of Southern California’s Mrs T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, hosts Alyssa Concha and Rob Russow look to track down leaders, innovators and advocates in the field, bringing their voices to a wider audience. Through conversations about important research, events, and perspectives on practice we aim to empower the greater OT community. Our goal is to support the Centennial Vision of occupational therapy as a powerful, widely recognized, science-driven, and evidence-based field of practice by arming our audience with information about advocacy, information, and research to support their evidence-based practice.

Episode 1: A Conversation with Dr. Samia Rafeedie | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:50

Episode One features Dr. Samia Rafeedie, a clinical professor of Occupational Therapy at USC. The three-part interview begins with a discussion regarding membership in professional organizations. Dr. Rafeedie passionately breaks down how other practices are infringing on the domain of occupational therapy and calls to action everyone who has not yet joined AOTA or their state organization to help save the profession. The podcast continues with a discussion of her own experience in practice and academia, with special advice for those looking to get into teaching or continue their education. In the end, Dr. Rafeedie shares examples from her personal life, explaining how it has impacted her practice. Especially striking is the case of her father and how occupational therapy could have saved his life.
