In Episode 093, we spend one of our final sessions of 2020 with Bobby Maximus. Bobby talks about the motivation he used and still uses today to develop and drive his career. Hailing from a small town in Northern Ontario, Bobby managed to work his way up the tactical and sporting ladder using a blue collar attitude. He also talks about how training and fitness adds significant value to his life and he helps others to find that same enjoyment and motivation around physical preparation and fitness. Bobby continues to apply this approach to his own daily training, even as he approaches middle age, keeping his workouts fresh and varying up the programming as he feels necessary. Whatever it takes to maintain his enjoyment of the process of exercising and maximizing his potential.During his career Bobby Maximus has been featured in numerous workout publications, conducted many seminars and worked with numerous Tier One Assets and Special Forces groups within the United Stated military. Bobby is also a regular contributor to Men’s Health Magazine and is the Keeper Of Authenticity at Lalo Tactical. In the past, Bobby was a police officer in serving as a member of the Peel Regional Police Force as well as The Toronto Police Service. He spent time on the road, as part of the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy Team, and also as a Defensive Tactics Instructor. He has also competed in numerous fight competitions across North America. In 2006 he fought in UFC 58, UFC 62 and Ultimate Fight Night 5, where he won Submission of the Night. Robert also starred on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter series, was the Ring of Fire light-heavyweight champion and fought for an amateur world kickboxing championship.  Episode 092 - Dr. John Jaquish: Weightlifting and Cardio Are a Waste of Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3210

In Episode 092, we sit down with Dr. John Jaquish to find out why weightlifting and cardio are a waste of time. While it may sound like a click-bait title, Dr. Jaquish brings up some very compelling arguments around why your expectations around weightlifting and cardio may be misplaced. He talks about his own personal experiences around training, shedding fat, building muscle and strengthening bones. Dr. Jaquish also discusses the device he invented to build bone density, muscle strength and overall lean body mass, and identifies the reasons he believes it provides superior results to conventional weightlifting and cardio, particularly when it comes to muscle development and fat burning.John Jaquish began his experience in life sciences after being told by his Mother that she had been diagnosed with osteoporosis. John, in an effort to help his mother, created a device to place axial loading through bone to safely cause osteogenic responses to those loading events. The device was designed to trigger the effects of high-impact loading, but without the risk of injury. Dr. Jaquish is currently advancing osteogenic loading research and speaking worldwide about its implications, as well as developing other biotechnology devices and products that will aid in advancing the health and wellbeing of people all around the world. He frequently presents on the topics of osteogenic loading and whole body vibration and has disseminated his research at the World Congress on Osteoporosis, the Medical Wellness Association, multiple ageing/age management conferences, and the Google campus.  Episode 091 - Natasha Wilch: A Necessary Concussion Discussion | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2934

In Episode 091, Don and Derek tackle the very important topic of concussions and traumatic brain injuries with rehabilitation expert, Natasha Wilch. We discuss the various causes of head injuries and concussions, as well as the proper treatment once a concussion is diagnosed. Don even lets us in on his experiences with concussions, at least the ones that were actually diagnosed. Thus, one of the biggest priorities in the process, as identified by Natasha, is truly conducting a proper diagnosis and then beginning a sound treatment process for the concussion. We examine the various activities that lead to head injuries, as well as many the various measures to help reduce the incidence of concussion in athletes of all types. We must also be aware of the other side effects of concussions including depression, loss of coordination, sleep disorders, learning challenges and other long-term neurological effects of repeated blows to the head. Natasha also talks about the efficacy of virtual and online sessions to not only help diagnose concussions, but also guide people through the rehabilitation process, particularly when in-person appointments are not as easy during a global pandemic.Natasha is a Concussion Coach, Speaker, Educator and Registered Physical Therapist. Arash discusses the tips and tricks he has around meal planning and how he combines a performance nutrition plan with great tasting meals and dishes. He also identifies the importance of the mental game around preparing for bodybuilding contests and how this relates to the average person in achieving their own health and fitness goals. He was the runner-up of the 2016 Mr. Olympia Classic Men’s Physique, and the winner of the 2016 New York Pro. While Arash has achieved an avid success in a short period of time, he didn’t step on stage until the age of 32. For most of his life, Arash was enthralled by bodybuilding; looking up to greats like Arnold, Ronnie, and The Maryland Muscle Machine. However, he never felt his physique was good enough to compete in bodybuilding. It was in 2014, when Arash decided it was time to finally put the spray tan on. He confidently stepped onto the NPC Bev Francis Atlantic States stage, taking home the 1st place trophy.
