Wow! Now that was completely unexpected. That tribal council makes this one of the more exciting, pre-merge episodes we've ever seen. What do you think this will mean in the overall scope of the game and the balance of power going into the merge? Who do you think will garner the credit for that blindside? What do you think about who they eliminated? Was that the best available choice? What did you make of that exchange between Jack and Jamal?

Feedback was mixed on the results of the tribe shuffle. Goat preservation does not make for very exciting TV, and the fear of a possible Pagonging continues to rise as the orange curse prevailed once again. We strive for continuous learning and improvement in our favorite game, so there's always some valuable insights in the LF shows. We are excited to see what new twist and turn will be headed our way on Wednesday!

No blindsides this week but we still got a surprise. Many of us expected three tribes, but this time, they stuck with two. One tribe ended up with a clear majority with 5 vs. 3, and the other offers an even 4 vs. 4 split. Did you miss the Island of the Idols segment this week? Being good at blindsides is not necessarily a plus for your early game, especially if one tribe gets more practice than the other. Case in point, we are headed into a shuffle next week. Blindsides can foster resentment and result in revenge plans. How many tribes will we get? What did you think of the vote off this week? What did you think of this week's IotI challenge?

The blindsides continued but something shifted this week. Based on the feedback, it feels like the wheels are loose on Island of the Idols and maybe about to fall off. The forced "mystery" combined with a two day game cycle resulted in a confusing edit that left many folks scratching their heads and wondering just what happened. Of course, and often in spite of that, we remained excited see what Wednesday brings us next.

The blindsides continue in week 3 with yet another surprise vote out. The purple castaways from the early game finally got some focus, but we're guessing that neither is too happy with the results. Probst does not seem to be holding back with his assessments this season. He declared that losing tribe was dead in the water during the challenge and then said they "suck at puzzles" at Tribal Council. What did you think of the vote off this week? That's two for two on the blindsides! The game-play this week delighted some and disappointed others, but overall reviews remain extremely positive. The main take away is that no one is safe in season 39. Many of us gained new recognition for the castaways that are really starting to shine this season. We are excited for Wednesday night and what the next episode will bring us!

Island of the Idols Week 2 Recap

It's time to get the Survivor Super Fan's assessment of the first episode of season 39. We all loved that the premiere was 90 minutes long. That provided enough time to see the social game begin on both tribes with sufficient time to introduce the new twist. We are anxious for Wednesday night when we get the next installment of our favorite show!

There's nothing like a "devastating blindside" to kick off a new season and Survivor season 39, Island of the Idols, is off to another great start! With a full 90 minutes, the twist did not detract from the premiere. We hope that trend continues. We enjoyed getting all the camp time to see the social games in action and didn't miss the marooning. What did you think of each tribe? Welcome to Part 1 of our JABBIC show for season 39, Island of the Idols. JABBIC stands for Judge A Book By Its Cover. It's a tradition here at SFP that kick it off with a preseason analysis of the castaways. We have shared our early thoughts on each of the castaways including how well we think they will do in the overall game as well as some details we gathered from the interviews to kick off another season of watching Survivor together.

Today, we gather one last time to share our final impressions and thoughts on season 38, Survivor Edge of Extinction. The Finale Feedback is clear, the theme for this season actively undermined the final result for many of us. In spite of the that, we once again had a great time together and found lots to enjoy and discuss each week. We will be on hiatus until September when we return for the season 39 JABBIC, Judge A Book By Its Cover, episodes.

With only one clear front runner, we entered the finale with some trepidation. It's easy to understand why some of us might harbor fear for a possible disappointing ending. But Reality TV is thankfully not dependent on fickle writers. You never know what you might get with Survivor, but in this case, we ended up being both surprised and happy with the end result.
