Modern Sewciety Podcast
Summary: Modern Sewciety features modern creative bloggers in many different industries such as sewing, crafting. I will chat with each guest about what really led them to blogging, why they blog, what inspires them, what blogging has brought them, for example book deals, designing fabric and patterns, working with other companies. We will also talk about their passions that fuel their blogs like sewing, crafting, cooking, home improvement, and parenting. It is a chance to get to know them a little more than what we read on their blogs and just have a great time chatting. If you would like to suggest a modern creative blogger you would like to see interviewed on the podcast just email me at themodernsewciety (at) gmail (dot) com. Enjoy!

You are going to love my chat with my guest Jessie Ziegler today from Threaded Quilting Studio. Jessie is an amazing longarm quilter and talented sewists. Jessie and I chat all about the ins and outs of longarm quilting. Jessie answered all of questions about what you need to send to a longarm quilter when sending in your quilts to be quilted. Sending off a precious quilt top that you have spent so much time on is a wee bit scary but Jessie helps to ease your nerves about the process and she is even sharing a discount code for Modern Sewciety listeners!!! I so enjoyed getting to know more about Jessie's story into sewing and then long arming for others and I know you will enjoy it too. Have a listen and make sure to check the show notes for links and discount codes.
Zoe Dawn is my guest on the podcast today. I follow Zoe on instagram and really admire her work. She uses thrifted and gifted fabric to sew her handmade heirloom items for her etsy shop. Zoe and I chat about why she is conscious about her materials for her shop, how she finds time to be creative while being a busy mom and farmer's wife, and so much more. Zoe and I had such a great time talking about being creative and how important we think creativity is in daily life. Don't forget to check out the show notes for more information on the things we mentioned.
In episode 178 I am chatting with Nicohole from Wild Boho Embroidery. I always love chatting with Nichole and even had the chance to meet her in person at Quilt Market several years ago. Nichole does such an awesome job sharing her makes on Instagram, and her blog, by really mixing colors and patterns with style. We chat about how Nichole got interested in embroidery and why it has been an art form that she has such funwith and continues to thrive in her creative journey. Nichole shares her inspiration behind her latest book, Boho Embroidery: The Pattern Collection. We also talk about her first book, Boho Embroidery. Nichole is so open about her tips and tricks with embroidery which include things she uses to save time setting up supplies to be creative anytime. This is such a fun listen!
I get emails often about suggestions for guests for the podcast and this episode was the result of one of those emails. Erin reached out to me about her new website, Maternity Sewing, she started with fellow sewist, Lisa. Erin and Lisa saw that there was a need for information on sewing patterns and pattern hacks for maternity clothes so they started Maternity Sewing. Erin and I chat about how they decided to start a website, what information they wanted to have on the site, what would be helpful to sewists who wanted to stitch up maternity clothing, and so much more. They have even started a podcast! These ladies are on a mission and I really love how they are helping others build a handmade wardrobe while pregnant and postpartum. Speaking of postpartum, we do chat about our experiences after giving birth and I hope you find some of our chat helpful and uplifting. I really loved getting to know more about Erin and how Maternity Sewing can help so many in our community.
I bet there are so many listeners who have made Kelly Bowser's hour basket from her very popular tutorial. I have followed Kelly for a long time and knew this would be a fun chat. And it so was. Kelly is such a fun creative and we talked about her journey with sewing and how she landed her own sewing show! She gives some of her tips for quilt layouts to help you get a better idea of what your project with look like. This is such a great chat. Make sure to check out the show notes for links of what we mentioned.
