Think again before you answer the question that the title of this program asks! Too many of us on will say one thing publicly to be politically correct but will turn around and say something completely different under their breath when no one else is around. This program is not about whether someone thinks that one who is living an LGBT (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender) lifestyle is right or wrong, it's about how we'll react to the news that we've found out that one of our good friends are gay? Now for the sake of simplicity and brevity, I am speaking of the entire "LGBT" community when I utilize the term "Gay" in this show topic explanation but I do know the difference. How would you feel if someone rejected you because of something that they've found out about you that may not have been very public or well known? If a person loves you for who you are and you claim to love them as a friend, then why should it make a difference WHAT they do behind closed doors in their private sexual intimate life? If a friend rejects you because you shared your lifestyle preference to them were they really and truly a real friend all along or was it based on a superficial premise that really wasn't about the unconditional love for another human being but on a narrow minded mentality that will limit their walk in life and the human experience on this earth? Can a rejected friendship based on an ignorant shallow issue ever be repaired to its former bond ever again? What kind of pressure does this put on someone who feels that they must keep their lifestyle out of the public eye in the fear that their most cherished friends would just never understand that they are no different because of their revelation into their private life? Intelligent respectful dialogue will prevail & will be strictly enforced no matter what your stance may be.

For all of the progress made by the human race there is so much ground to cover when it comes to he we relate to one another between the sexes. We put a man on the moon a lifetime ago and can fly anywhere on the planet. We now have advances in the medical field that were seemingly impossible to perceive at the turn of the millenium and possess smartphones that make Dick Tracey's wristwatch television appear inept. Yet, with all of the technological advances and previous high marks in all recorded achievements smashed we have yet to improve our understanding on mass of the opposite sex on those deeper levels. Sure, we seem to always get along in that early infatuation phase & have absolutely no problem when it comes to enjoying the pleasures that come from the union of our physical bodies, but when it comes to the psycho/emotional differences between us once the effect of those early phases have passed, we can count on those roadblocks in understanding to always give us that bumpy ride that we have all to often accepted as an inevitable part of our connection to the opposite sex. This happens in all races, cultures and lifestyles and while those slight differences in the specifics will always be there, it is for the most part all the same. From what I have observed and maybe I am wrong, but we as Black-American men more often seem to give up on seeking that deeper connection with our divine mate & have either given up on the dream of a happy relationship completely or only indulge in those sweet early parts of the connection & disappear once the signs of true intimacy or the beginnings of erosion begin to take place once the going gets rough. When comparing us to different cultures and races across the globe, we are sadly lacking in our determination to stay with our Sisters and support them even when they are not involved with us on a sexual level or as a potential romantic mate.

While it has to be taken into consideration that everyone and every relationship operates under a slightly different set of rules and expectations, we all have our limits as to what we will tolerate before we feel as though our mate is striging us along. When two people are truly in love they just cannot wait to take their passion and sense of oneness to the next level but sometimes those same two people who share that intense passion may just have a different sense of the passage of time. Unless verbalized and communicated, there may be a rift between what the expectations are when it finally comes to the issue of when to totally commit. Now understand that when I say this I don't always mean that it has to be where the two parties involved plan a marriage ceremony, because just getting married doesn't guarantee that both parties are truly committed to each other even though they may have a ring and a piece of paper to show it. And while I do feel that getting married is the ultimate display of commitment when all else has been proven as far as ones dedication to one another, there are a vast amount of other ways that two people can show that they both are ready to take things to the next level and show their mate that they are indeed serious about their relationship. Too many people who are involved with a significant other have the feeling that the relationship is not evolving into the ultimate union fast enough, they are feeling as though they are being "strung along" indefinitely and that they might be wasting their time as their "mate" is getting to enjoy the sweetness without any sacrifice. Isn't it time that we brought the truth out in the open in these slowly progressing relationships that just never seem to "get there?"

Here at LanceScurv we are going to delve into a new lane that I feel will benefit us all as we fellowship to improve our lives right from where we are. Health, Fitness & Wellness - It's an area that many are perplexed in because of the tsunami of so called "experts" who claim to be correct in their advice that conflicts with the next "expert." What a shame, because it doesn't have to be that way, but it will only continue in this non productive downward spiral of ignorance because I feel that we have gotten away from the old school way of sharing and caring for each other with the tried and proven recipes and remedies that were good enough to keep our fore-bearers in the best of health until their golden years. So our goal here is to get back to a healthy dialogue about our well being and lifestyle improvement from a grassroots perspective in a manner that is based in common sense, proven facts and not the useless fluff that comes from someone who has a gimmick hidden behind smoke and mirrors to sell you in the name of your personal self improvement. Do know that our program here is for everyone and will always acknowledge the usually unseen connection between the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental, because our physical selves will certainly be thrown out of balance if we are not mentally and emotionally in "synch" with the spiritual aspects of our earthly walk. As an addendum and footnote, let it be known that I feel that our spiritual beings are all interconnected divinely and are above the reach of the man made religions and welcome all faiths to chime in on their methods of improvement of the total man and woman. It is an inevitable mountain that those of us who choose to marry must surmount if we want to keep our union with our chosen mate and whether we admit to it or not, our in-laws DO have an effect on our relationships in a much more powerful manner than we would like to think. But it must be said that one doesn't have to even BE married to feel the overwhelming joys or the painful sting of being within the close proximity of the family of your mate, so whether your union is "legal" or not, the positioning and the issues that come from your mates family remains the same regardless. There are so many variables when it comes to family life alone and there are even MORE sometimes confusing issues that can come at you so swiftly when it comes to the joining of two families through the institution of marriage as well as a committed relationship between two people. The things we do for love....... Once again we here at LanceScurv ponder the questions that most are afraid to answer. The topic and inquiry of this week's program is entitled "Will You Compromise Your Standards Just To Keep A Man?" May I remind you that the title was worded in such a manner as if it were asking this question of women but in actuality we are including everyone and every lifestyle. So many of us have in fact in the present or at one time in our lives did something to keep a mate that we wouldn't usually do under the heading of being one who has righteously compromised in . But where does the line between compromising something simple end and going overboard to sell ourselves short begin? You know that you have compromised your standards when you look back on a relationship that has ended and regretted what you did to keep that man....... "I don't know WHAT I was thinking to give in to the idea of having a threesome with my man and another woman especially now that he ran off with her and I've been left all alone looking like a fool! What made matters worse was HE was somebody that I met at the club two months ago and SHE was my lifelong childhood friend! Seems like you can't bend a little at all to keep your man happy anymore!" I will refrain from preaching but I must say this - hindsight is always 20/20 and to compromise your standards is a surefire way to find yourself in sad state of affairs and surely without the prize of a mate that you thought you would have in the end! But for some reason human nature is a stubborn thing and we always seem to think that we can break the rules or overstep the boundaries that others have always failed to defeat.
