James Herriot is a name that is synonymous with old style rural vetting. Many of us would have read the books, or at the least, seen the television series. Research in the United Kingdom has shown that veterinarians there are up to four times more likely to commit suicide than the general population and twice as likely than other healthcare professionals. We ask "why is this so?". Parvo Virus is a highly infectious, often fatal disease of dogs. Scott Arnold gives an overview of this nasty disease.
