Ever wonder what the Doom Patrol would have been like if it had been published by Mighty Marvel instead of DC? Wonder no more, True Believer, cuz Danny the Street is taking a nap and having a dream.
We’re coming to the end of Byrne’s run. This week we’re looking at issue #16 and stories are starting to wrap up. We get a look into Nudge’s head and start to learn the truth behind Vortex. All that time that Scott and I were calling him “Blue Man Group”? Not so far off, apparently.
We’re looking at Doom Patrol #52 by Morrison and Case. There’s lots of the Brotherhood of Dada… and commentary on presidential elections and shenanigans… and the Toy shows up. And the Doom Patrol even gets a moment or two in their own book which is always kinda cool.
Rita and Cliff go out on a date in downtown, sunny Florida and run into a bit of a mystery where everyone is old and dying. More so than is usual for Florida. I mean, we’re not talking about snowbirds, here. We’re looking at John Byrne’s Doom Patrol #15.
It’s time to look at Doom Patrol #51 by Morrison and Case, and things are ramping up for an election… and in true Doom Patrol style… it’s a little kooky.
What do you do on the day after kissing a robot? Find out when Elasti-Woman wanders through a host of alternate realities, searching for a way to get Robotman to come home again in Doom Patrol #14 by John Byrne.
It’s the big fifitieth anniversary issue of Morrison and Case’s run on Doom Patrol. There’s a battle with the Brotherhood of Dada, guest artists and festivity aplenty!
Love is in the air… everywhere you look around… especially if you’re famous hunky race-car driver Cliff Steele who manages to get smoochies from Rita among others. All this, and the Cheif invents the ultimate invention which lets him spy on people… through time!
The Doom Patrol takes a back seat to their adversaries this issue (which is DP #49). We get introduced to Mr. Nobody (who is awesome!) and his Brotherhood of Dada! Oh… and Rebis has a baby.
It’s a bit of a treat this week. We look at the first appearance of Ambush Bug (which also features the return of the New Doom Patrol… yeah, yeah, we’ll get there eventually! We’re not the podcast with a working time bubble). And then at the end of the episode, we get to interview Mr. Joe Staton, who was one of the creators responsible for bringing the Doom Patrol back to prominance.
We’re looking at Doom Patrol #11 by John Byrne. It’s an all new origin of the Chief… featuring all that voodoo that you do.
This time around we’re checking out Doom Patrol #12 by John Byrne. We get the rest of the Chief’s origin… check in on Negative Man… dont’ have to listen to Nudge all that much, cuz she has a headache… and watch the team fight some generic baddies. Oh. And there’s a ghost.
We’re looking at Doom Patrol #48… the shadowy Mr. Evans is continuing his wave of terror by unleashing all kinds of sexy orgone into the air. But not only are the Doom Patrol there to put up a fight – but so are… the Sex Men!
We’re looking at Doom Patrol #47 by Grant Morrison and Richard Case. Rebis is striking a pose on the cover… getting his/her Madonna on as he/she gets ready to remove the bandages. Meanwhile… Cliff and Crazy Jane go out for coffee. Hilarity ensues.
We’re looking at the secret origin of Nudge and Grunt and it’s full of sexual subtext! Ewww! It’s Doom Patrol #10 by John Byrne.
