Conversations with Dog

A recent study shows that most people would pick their next dog by the 'puppy eye' look. Will you fall for that too, or would you like to have some other tools on how to pick your next companion, that have nothing to do with looks? What dog, or animal, for that matter would be a contribution to your life and living? How do you pick the 'right' dog?

Does your animal expect anything of you? You might say, 'yes', food, shelter, pets, love and much more. And are those expectations, or something else? What are our animals truly expecting of us? Or are they? Please join this conversation about the possible expectations our pets might have and the one's we think they have that might not be!

A listener writes: Whenever I hear or think about animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, and cruelty, I collapse into sadness, feeling an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and just want to rescue and protect them all. I know that surrendering to such strong emotion is not a contribution to them or me. How can I choose a different response, one that will allow me to use my talents and potentcies to bring more awareness and kindness or whatever is required to benefit all animals. Most dogs that have aggressive behavior have a decision they made at some point that has them now in this mode that they cannot get out of. And to a lot of dogs that got into the cycle of aggression, see, to hold on to that as a valuable tool they use. So can we change that? Many people are quick to call their dog aggressive. But often that word is a misidentification of the behavior or the underlying problem. Words create an energy though and the dog picks up on that energy, and will do her best to fulfill it. So if your dog's aggressive behavior is getting worse, maybe it can assist to identify the actual behavior, call it for what it is and energetically clear the way for a different possibility?
