The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers News, Art Rooney II KDKA Comments, Shrine Bowl Roundtable, & More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7307

February 7, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 87 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes more coaching staff changes to pass along and discuss. With Frisman Jackson now out as the Steelers wide receivers coach, will and should Hines Ward be a candidate for that position on the staff? Alex and I discuss all of those items to start this show. Steelers president Art Rooney II conducted an interview recently with Bob Pompeani on KDKA-TV and on the heels of that, Alex and I discuss the main talking points to come out of it. Will the Steelers really entertain trading for a quarterback this offseason? We discuss that question in relation to what Rooney said in his latest interview. With our team back from the 2024 Shrine Bowl, we have our first pre-draft roundtable discussion based on players that took part in that annual college all-star event, which was held in Frisco, TX this year. This roundtable discussion includes site contributors Joe Clark, Melanie Friedlander, and Tony Calderone. Alex and I go through most of the position groups with the three and talk specifically about several individual players as part of that. We get all three to identify five players who they think could potentially become members of the Steelers this spring. If not already doing so, make sure to follow Joe (@jclark1233), Melanie (@Girlsurgeon), and Tony (@TCalderone11) on Twitter and if you get a chance, please thank them all for their time and evaluations. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 120-minute episode. The Steelers brought in a few free agent tight ends for workouts this week, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that news after first answering several email questions that we have recently received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.  The Terrible Podcast — Talking Kozora Steelers Mock Draft, Aaron Freeman On Arthur Smith, Le'Veon Bell Comeback, & More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7350

February 5, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 86 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about former Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell saying a few days ago on Snapchat that he plans to attempt a comeback this offseason. We talk about his chances of returning to the Steelers and more. Alex released his first full Steelers' mock draft of 2024 on Monday morning so as you would expect, we go over it pick-by-pick and discuss his choices and why he made them. We go into detail on several of the players that Alex mocked to the Steelers and more. This obviously makes for a long segment due to the number of picks we must review and discuss. In the middle of this show, Alex and I are once again joined by Aaron Freeman, who covers the Atlanta Falcons on the Locked on Falcons podcast. If you remember, we had Aaron on a few years ago ahead of the Steelers playing the Falcons in Atlanta during the 2022 regular season. In this interview, Alex and I get an overview of what Aaron knows about new Steelers OC Arthur Smith after his three years spent with the Falcons as their head coach. In total, we spend roughly 35 minutes talking to Aaron about Smith. If not already doing so, please follow Aaron on Twitter at @lockedonfalcons and thank him for appearing on the Friday show. You can also read some of Aaron’s work online here: https://www.sbnation.com/users/AaronFreeman#activity and listed to his podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/locked-on-falcons-daily-podcast-on-the-atlanta-falcons/id1147245791 Missi Matthews conducted a one-on-one interview with Smith over the weekend, so Alex and I make sure to recap that short session during this Monday episode as well. After having Aaron on, Alex and I discuss how third wide receivers have been utilized in Smith's offense the last five seasons. That discussion is a result of a post I wrote thar includes data pulled from 2019-2023. The main takeaway from that discussion revolves around the Steelers being unlikely to add a notable unrestricted free agent wide receiver this coming offseason. We do, however, discuss the possibility of the Steelers adding a wide receiver at some point during the 2024 NFL Draft. How possible is it that the Steelers lands Chicago Bears CB Jaylon Johnson during the offseason? Alex and I discuss that question and topic later in this show on the heels of comments made by Johnson over the weekend while participating in the annual Pro Bowl games festivities. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 120-minute episode and we also make sure to read and answer a listener email to close this show out. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.  The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' Staff Plans, Arthur Smith Run/Pass Data, 2023 Outside Zone Stats, Center Prospects, & More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7192

February 2, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 85 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to some coaching staff changes around the NFL that have taken place with the emphasis of that being on AFC North teams and teams on the 2024 schedule. With Arthur Smith now poised to officially be named the Steelers new offensive coordinator, Alex and I go over some key pass and running stats related to his five previous seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. We talk about the correlation between Smith having a strong running game for his passing game to work and why we believe the Steelers' running game needs to be well within the top 10 in 2024 for the quarterback play to show improvement. While the outside zone running scheme is not new to Pittsburgh, the team's use of it in 2023 was pretty much boom or bust. Alex and I go over some outside zone stats from 2023 related to the Steelers. Will center be a primary focus for the Steelers early in the 2024 NFL Draft? Alex and I discuss that position and briefly touch on the perceived top three center prospects in this year's draft class. We also discuss the Steelers’ two biggest positional needs on offense this offseason. We also discuss what type of wide receiver the Steelers might address during the offseason and Alex has one player in mind that played for Smith in Atlanta last season. Coming out of the Senior Bowl week there is one defensive lineman prospect that has our attention entering the weekend. We tell you who that player is and why we think the steelers will have serious interest in him during the pre-draft process. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 117-minute episode and we also make sure to read and answer several listener emails to close this show out. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. January 31, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 84 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to getting some recent housekeeping news out of the way quickly when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers since our Monday show. The big news on Tuesday was the Steelers agreeing to terms with Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator. On the heels of that news, Alex and I spend more than hour discussing Smith. We talk about why Smith was likely hired to be the new offensive coordinator, his backstory and influences, his stint as the offensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans and his past three seasons as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. What kind of scheme and offense will Smith attempt to utilize in Pittsburgh? Alex and I go over what all he's done in the past and what carryover of that we expect to see with the Steelers. We spend a lot of time going over his love of the outside/wide zone and other run concepts he uses. We also go over several stats when it comes to personnel used, play action usage and shotgun rates. Smith conducted a coaching clinic video with North Carolina a few years ago and that got our attention on Tuesday. We recap everything that Smith had to say during that session and more. We attempt to paint a very full picture of what Smith is and isn’t along with the challenges he now faces in Pittsburgh as the Steelers' offensive coordinator. After discussing Smith's addition in-depth, Alex and recap the main talking points to come out of the annual end-of-the-season media session that Steelers team president Art Rooney II conducted on Monday. That discussion kept us busy during the second half of the show. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 106-minute episode. We failed to get to listener emails in this show, however, but plan on doing so late in Friday's show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Interviewing Arthur Smith, Jeremiah Moon Claim, Championship Games Recap, & More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5479

January 29, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 83 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers interviewing former Atlanta Falcons HC Arthur Smith for the open offensive coordinator job on the team's staff. We go deep into the NFL history of Smith during our conversation and discuss things that have stuck out with his past offenses when it comes to scheme and personnel usage. We also discuss the possibility of Smith ultimately being the Steelers' choice and whether we think more interviews might take place with the likes of Klint Kubiak of the San Francisco 49ers. The Steelers claimed LB Jeremiah Moon off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend, so Alex and I discuss the details of that transaction and the uniqueness of it. Will the Steelers need to waive a player to make room for Moon? Alex quickly profiled Moon over the weekend, so we discuss what all he found out about the player and how he fits on the Steelers' roster this offseason. The NFL Conference Championship games took place on Sunday, so Alex and I give our thoughts on those two contests that included the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Ravens and the 49ers beating the Detroit Lions. we spend time discussing the two fourth decisions that Lions HC Dan Campbell made in the second half of his team's game. With the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl week now underway, Alex and I discuss a few more draft prospects during this episode. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 89-minute episode, and we end it by answering several questions sent in from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
