Episode-2311- John Moody on Frugal Homesteading | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

Tweet The Moody family farms and homesteads on 35 acres in Kentucky.  Their journey to homesteading began when John Moody discovered more than a decade ago that his diet was literally killing him.  He was hit with duodenal ulcers, seasonal allergies, and other health problems.  So the family began to transition to real, local foods and local food distribution. Eventually, he relocated his family to 35 acres of land to put his learning into practice.  He currently serves as a founder and director of Steader (an online learning platform for homesteaders and farmers), and also speaks at many local, regional, and national events on food, farming, and nutrition. He has two books to help growers and gardeners.  His book The Frugal Homesteader  which he co wrote with Joel Salatin was just released.  His second book is called Winning the War Against Weeds, and is due out mid winter and more books are on the way.  Episode-89- TSP Rewind – Raising Resilient Children in a World Full of Wusses | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

TweetToday is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally and was originally Episode-1825- Raising Resilient Children in a World Full of Wusses and was first published on July 12th, 2016. The following are the original show notes from that episode. Today we discuss a subject near and dear to my heart, frankly the future of our nation and our world. I hear all the time today how our kids are tea cup kids, how they are soft, easily offended and incapable or getting though adversity. Oh dear friends if only it were that limited. There are plenty of 20, 30 and even 40 year old people today that I can say the same about. Yet I will admit that in my experience as an employer, that something clearly went very wrong between the 1980’s and the 1990’s. There absolutely is a dramatic divide in the number of tea cups based on growing up in one of those two decades. Translation if you were born after 1978 and are not a tea cup, go hug your parents around the neck right now and say thank you! Today it has gone full on idiotic! It is far more that participation trophies, not keeping score in game, “everybody wins” and a refusal to discipline. Now we have young adults with safe spaces on college campuses at the very time they should have very belief challenged. Instead they are being protected from “micro-aggressions”, and having their college level work graded on a “curve” to make sure anyone who even tries passes. But today will not be a rant session, I will absolutely not focus on the problem, or what can be done about the current generation as a whole. Instead I will stay inside your personal circle of influence, and focus on how to help your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc, grow up strong in a world full of wusses. Join Me Today As I Respond to Your Emails On How we got here, many people meant well, many did not My 10 rules for raising resilient children Let them fail Challenge them Give them a system, teach them to “work it” Get their hands dirty Praise them for failing in the right context Encourage “next step thinking” Incentivize self directed learning Teach them to safely use “dangerous” things Put them in charge at times Teach them about self ownership The Bonus Rule – Everyone is great at something, find that for yourself Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade The Year 1825 Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom Ain’t No Man – The Avett Brothers Published Version at the PRI Blog – Looks like they deleted all the bitchy comments but one wuss came back to post again.  LOL YouTube Stand Alone Video for Sharing the Original Episode Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-88- TSP Rewind – Some of the Greatest Lies Ever Sold | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

TweetToday is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1393- Some of the Greatest Lies Ever Sold and was originally published on July 24th, 2014. The following are the original show notes from that episode. I have been on a theme as of late and I think I will leave you with one more show in this vein before I move on to something else. Do you realize that most people are living their modern lives based on a series of well sold lies? Everything you hear is largely a lie today. The TV lies to you. Your parents though well meaning likely repeat those lies, largely because they believe them. 1984 Should Have Been Called 2014. The radio lies to you while you drive to work, well, unless you listen to TSP or something similar. Most companies lie very professionally and well thought out to their employees. The school system is built almost entirely on lies. This is why so many are miserable today. One can’t be human, fully human when they are living a life based on lies that lead to largely non human behavior. Worse yet most of these lies have bits of truth in them. Understand the most deceptive lies are 90% or more true. The best way to sell lies is by using the truth. This is why you will have a hard time likely when you read the list of lies below, accepting that as they are sold to you, they are lies. PLEASE don’t comment below about these lies until you listen to the episode, I promise you that you will end up defending them out of context. Join Me Today As We Examine the Following Lies… Responsible adults get good jobs and work hard at them An education is priceless Money can’t buy happiness It will all be worth it when you retire While our political system has problems it is the best we can do It is okay for government to do something that would be a crime if you did it Those people over there are bad, it is okay for us to kill them Your value is based on the opinions of others Government is necessary Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade The Year 1393 Join Our Forum Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2309- Freedom Through Independent Publishing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

TweetPhil M. Williams is an author, permaculture consultant, and activist for a stateless society. He is the author of thirteen books with permaculture and anarchist themes. In 2008, after a decade as a landscape contractor, Phil sold his business and moved from the McMansion filled suburbs of Northern Virginia to rural Pennsylvania. He spent a couple of years as a mediocre gardener, before finding permaculture. A few years later, and two completed PDC’s, he became a permaculture consultant. In addition to consulting, he’s spent the past six years developing his six-acre hillside into a permaculture site. His permaculture work can be found at FoodProduction101.com. Phil is an accidental author. He had been writing in the winter for many years—with no intention of publishing. With the support of his wife, he published his first book, Fire the Landscaper in 2015. With his permaculture site mostly complete, more of his time is now spent writing. He believes that entertainment is biased in favor of the state. Books, movies, and television often feature government employees as heroes, and anti-government people as the antagonists. With his books, he endeavors to counteract this bias, and show the state as it is.  He joins us today to discuss how independent publishing can be a path to freedom. His new releases can be read for free at PhilWBooks.com.  Episode-2308- How Close is the Original US Government to an Anarchy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

Tweet It isn’t a trick question, also note I didn’t way it was or even how close it was, I just asked the question.  The answer is a lot closer than you might imagine.  Today we are going to discuss the constitution, the original version and some things most people never learn about, therefore never understand about it. Given my position as a voluntarist, people often wonder why I even care about the constitution.  I think by the time this episode is over the reasons will be clear. In short though I view most of our elected officials as thieves, but thieves with a contract that they should at minimum adhere to.  The sad fact is most Americans have zero understanding of that contract, its genesis or their role in it. Join Me Today to Discuss… Why do I even care since if find the state illegitimate Before we begin lets separate principle from politics of the day Why I claim the federal government is not a party to the contract that is the constitution Why the bill of rights should have never applied to the states individually How incorporation of the bill of rights reduced federalism Why the US is both a democracy and a republic and how little a republic means by itself How the 17th amendment stripped state power and why it should be repealed Why a convention of the states should be called, why it won’t be In the end, so what, why does this matter if nothing is going to change Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade On this Day in 1975 Patty Hearst is Captured Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Bullhead Fishing Forum – A new little site I started Biltong For Breakfast Find Your TSP Facebook Group for Your State American Thinker Article that Supports my Contractual Argument This Cowboys Hat – Chris LeDoux Sponsors of the Day Bulk Ammo Self Reliance Magazine Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2305- Food Storage for those that Don’t Live On Carbs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

Tweet Expert council member and long time TSP community member Chef Keith Snow joins us today to discuss food storage beyond rice, beans, potatoes and pasta.  Sure these staples are cheap and easy to store but if you cannot or don’t want top live on them what’s the alternative? Many TSP folks who prep follow low carb or paleo diets and the rice and beans approach presents a problem for folks that want to store 1-3 months or more of food at any given time. Recently due to some health issues Chef Keith tried a vegan approach to his diet, after only 5 months he realized it was not the solution he had hoped for.  He soon came back to a more meat and fat based diet.  In doing so he has examined food storage from that view point and joins us today to talk about what he has learned. Chef Keith has been a professional chef in top restaurants and is classically trained in high end culinary arts.  He is also a down to earth guy that knows how to make a simple but awesome grilled burger.  He has now taken that background and married it to a more paleo lifestyle for preppers.  Keith joins us today to discuss his journey and results.  Episode-2303- The Basics of Being Prepared for Most Things – Part Two | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00:01

Tweet Note – A commercial free version of this episode and part one will both be released later this week for sharing.  I may also put them on Youtube for the same purpose. We just had one hell of a hurricane in the Carolinas and the problems there are far from over. Storm season is still upon us and there will likely be at least one more major storm impact this year. Next up, well winter is on the way, blizzards and ice storms are soon to follow. Next thing you know it will be spring, time for mudslides, tornadoes and other “fun stuff”. Then back to summer, forest fires, more storms and it just goes on. If you think about it we don’t have a disaster season, we have seasons with disasters that are more common during them, and even that rule gets broken. You don’t think of winter and tornadoes but in 2015 in the three days following Christmas we had the December 2015 North American storm complex. In three days we had a total of 32 tornadoes confirmed, 60 people died and hundreds of homes were destroyed. To be blunt, shit happens! And depending on the size of the shit, you are going to be your own first responder for hours, days or at times even weeks. As I say in Spirko’s 7th Law of Life. “Preparedness for hard times, is nothing more than being a responsible adult.” Today we continue with Part Two and focus on Logistics, Communications and Documentation.  Part one can be found here. Join Me Today to Discuss… If you haven’t listed to part one, do so before listening to this episode Today we focus more on planning than on stuff, though there is some stuff Logistics – the detailed coordination of a complex operation Who is in charge – chain of command What goes, what stays Plans for bugging in and out – (people often do one due to a lack of plans for the other) When protocols are implemented and what they are Examples Increased security All hands on deck Time to bug out Power outage (winter vs. summer) Pet needs Critical Sytems The keys Practiced protocols work Reviewed protocols are not scary How shit works – can you do it under stress, write it down Documentation Costs almost nothing, yet is priceless Evacuation routes and meeting places (Rule X3) Contact info Friends and Family Service Providers Lodging Banks Data packs should be printed and uniform Also in soft copy List of items to take with you if you bug out For more listen to episode 1224 The Bug Out Bag If you can walk you can carry one, everyone gets one 3 Days of relative comfort, not a 3 day vacation in Mexico It must live where you are or it is useless Communications Cell phones are your best tool for everything Use Zello – set up a family channel or possibly a group channel If you are a HAM great, if not, what I say about it won’t matter Back up cell phone power, vehicle charges, etc FM/AM radio, with batteries and ear piece TV – at home definitely, on the road may be, have an antenna No these two episodes are not everything, but they will lead you to everything you need Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Bullhead Fishing Forum – A new little site I started Binance.com Biltong for Breakfast ItsAJackLife on Instagram Off of Wonderland – Jackson Brown Sponsors of the Day Safecastle Royal The Berkey Guy Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.
