Episode XLI: The Podfather | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

It's a full house in The Deucecast Studios, as not only are d$ and Mikey steering the pirate ship, the swingin' Doc Earl joins us in-studio, while Drewski takes over the tech duties from an AWOL Producer Tommy. Like many shows before, we kick it off by expanding our palate horizons in trying a new beverage.  Its called Jumex, though its pronounced Hu-Mex... that will be funny when you listen to the show itself. Among the many topics spoken of tonight... crying babies... Super Bowl commercials... the Phantom Menace in 3D... the miscasting of The Fantastic Four movies... The Voice vs. American Idol... the 90s success (and 2000s plunge) of Anne Rice and her vampires... the similarities in crappy Burt Reynolds films... Ahnold and Sly's new duet... Mikey's fading crush on Nic Cage... Mikey features an actual, good Music Minute this week!  Plus, a Buried Treasure brings forth the character of Philo Beddoe and a monkey named Clyde... an epic Movie Game nearly shuts out one of us completely in a shocker... and in Dying with Dr. Earl, we find out the difference in Midichlorians, Milochondrians and what the heck is Mesothelioma?  Find out. d$ continues his countdown of The 25 Saddest Songs Ever, including tunes from Bonnie Raitt (which is then ruined by Mikey's Jon Bon Iver crap), Gloria Estefan, Brian McKnight, the Rev'rn Al Green and an Alanis vs. The Police quick debate. Finally, our Big Three takes on President's Day, with our favorite fictional presidents and their portrayals... President Whitmore!  President Shepherd!  President Dale!  President Mitchell!  And even some real presidents like Nixon and Adams make an appearance. Mikey and d$ also recap the nearly 15 movies seen over the last week, including "The Descendants"... "Midnight in Paris"... "Winnebago Man"... "Drive"... and, of course, "Boogie Nights". Don't forget next week as we get a very, very special guest in studio, helping us discuss The Big Three Favorite Chick Flicks Ever... d$ takes the Music Minute, giving you the Five Saddest Songs Ever, to celebrate Valentine's Day... plus our takes on The Phantom Menace in 3D... all on The Deucecast Episode XLII:  Podcastablanca!! Mike's Music Minute: Twin Sister Dave's Buried Treasure: Any Which Way You Can [Blu-ray] Dave's Saddest Songs Ever: Gloria Estefan Greatest Hits, featuring "Here We Are", the 7th Saddest Song of All Time The Big 3: The One Where We Celebrate the Upcoming President's Day and Discuss Our Favorite Presidents in Movies & TV: Drew's Choice - Air Force One [Blu-ray] Dave's Choice - The American President Mike's Choice - 24: Season One Dr. Earl's Choice - John Adams [Blu-ray] Overall Cast Favorite - Dave Roundtable Randomness: Mike & Dave's ReFlicktions: I Am Comic Before the Devil Knows You're Dead [Blu-ray] The Double [Blu-ray] The Mechanic [Blu-ray] Crap O' The Week:Gator, starring the Immortal Burt Reynolds

Ladies and Gentlemen, As you know, we have something special down here at The Deucecast Studios this evening.  A recording from The Deucecast Podcast. Yeah!  Its the Deucecast Episode XXXVIII:  Podcast with a Vengeance!   We welcome Dr. Feelgood, aka, Dr. Earl into the studios as the guys kick things off with everything from bad sandwich artistry at Subway to the goodness of Jimmy Johns... from our technology addictions to Dr. Earls foray into the Apple World. Mikey brings us a new band called My Pet Dragon, which he loves.  At least he does.  Then, we kick off our five part series on The Saddest Songs Ever Written, with songs #25 to #21... One of our favorite scenes ever, from "Glory" (d$'s 44th favorite film of all time)... Morgan Freeman's "soul clap" is fantastic.  I also feel like the term "our great gettin' up morning" should be used more often. More Star Wars news... Happy New Year from The Deucecast! Despite the best efforts of management, unionized workers won their lawsuit and had the week off! We hope you're enjoying some time off as well, and in the meantime, here's a fan-favorite episode until we're back in the studio Wednesday night. Join us Jan 4, 2012 at 8:30PM CST on Ustream. STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS Its all Star Wars this time around, as on The Deucecast Episode XXV becomes a Star Wars Centric show! We talk about what we loved, what we liked, what we hold dear and what... well, what we didn't like. The Blu-Rays were released this past weekend, so we go indepth in Star Wars lore, what George did right, what he did wrong, and what he did that, frankly, we didn't even know he had done. What are your favorite scenes from the movies? Is it Qui Gonn vs. Darth Maul, which is one of Matt's? Or the opening battle sequence in Revenge of the Sith, like Mikey? Or maybe the Yoda vs. Dooku fight in Attack of the Clones? And what does Rhett think of Yoda and Dooku? Not much, apparently. Find out why... We dive into a little Weird Al, some Star Wars gangsta wrap, and even some old Saturday Night Live material with Nick Lava and his Star Wars lounge act. What are some of your favorite Star Wars experiences? Watching the movies with your kids? Standing in line for hours for tickets? A Star Wars Convention? Or the Christmas of 1983? And somehow, Dave Coulier makes it onto the podcast... we're not sure what happened there, to be honest. And we dive into a little Star Wars Trivia, with some of the easiest questions you can possibly imagine... and somehow Mikey still stumbles. That's all on The Deucecast Episode XXV: That Star Wars Episode... Happy DeuceGiving!  We just wanted to say a few thanks... first, to the obvious thank-you targets--our families, our wives, our kids and kids to be, our friends and to God for the blessings we have.  Of course, a big thank you to the military men and women who give us the freedom to do the award winning podcast that we do. Aside from those thanks, we wanted to have a little one-off show and give thanks to some immaterial, underrated things that don't get mentioned... like, the value of finding a sought after song on iTunes... watching an old friend dominate some Zelda... see the yellow line of football prowess.. and more! Its a quick show, one recorded specifically for the Thanksgiving holiday! If you think three's a crowd... well... we still have three.  Matty has left us, at least for now, to pursue other ventures in the multi-media atmosphere, but that still leaves d$ and Mikey, and joining us this week, Hurricane Rhett.  Right off the bat, we dive straight into such diverse and controversial topics as... Fall FestivAle Beer fest... taking the dog to the groomer... take the car to the Firestone... taking the tornadoes to Auburn... and taking the Hurricane Rhett to the Taco Bell.  A spirited Taco Bell and/or customer service discussion ensues, as we also riff on Cracker Barrel... the renassaince of AMC... the NBA Lockout... via voicemail, Matt reviews "The Immortals"... the gall of Enos and Sonny Schroyer... and Rhett dives in deep to rant about horrible Birthday Music at random Asian places.   Ever notice how adding an off-center porn 'stache and a crappily applied fake soul patch makes a great Evil Twin? The Big Three opens up a great round-robin talk about theme music, past their prime actors and our topic, TV We Loved as a Kid But Just Don't Hold Up Now... shows like Airwolf... ALF... The Fall Guy... Superfriends and Al Bundy all get the Deucecast Treatment.  And lest we forget... Captain Kirk vs. Princess Leia.  And for the first time last time ever... The Situation Watch.  Episode XXXII: The Podcast for Spock | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

First it was Joe Pa that got the hook... and now?  Matty resigns from The Deucecast, at least as a regular co-host.  What did Matt know?  What didn't Matt know?  We may never know. So, in the final show for Mattypoo, we kick it off by discussing everything from Shatner's Captain film... Mikey's concert update... "Once Upon a Time"... breaking into Matt's house... more Sons of Anarchy... a move to Missouri... and ear molds.  Not ear mold, but actual ear molds. The Big Three fills us in on movie technology from older movies that were supposed to be futuristic, yet their version of futuristic technology never panned out... Why didn't Snake Plissken have a cell phone in "Escape from New York"?  Shouldn't memory planted in your head be bigger than like, 2 gigabytes, in "Johnny Mnemonic"?  Why aren't we wiping with seashells, like in "Demolition Man"?  These questions and more... plus a great "Total Recall" discussion. Matt gives his final Smorg, on gaming, Mikey shows off his musical Scars and two great rounds of The Movie Game, with a great shout-out to veteran actor Christopher Plummer. We wrap up with a huge tribute (and by "huge", I mean a lot more than any of us thought it would be) to the recently late Heavy D... some Demi Lovato love news... a review of "Yo Mama" on MTV... a welcome to "Beavis & Butthead" back to the airwaves... And... the Final Seagal Watch. But The Deucecast Rolls On, sans Matt... Hurricane Rhett joins us next week for a fresh Facebook rant, while we discuss "TV Shows We Loved as a Kid but Just Don't Hold Up Now" on The Big Three... that and more, on The Deucecast Ep XXXIII:  The Podcast Voyage Home   Week in Review: Breaking Bad: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] The Captains - A Film By William Shatner Revenge of the Nerds 3: The Next Generation Music Minute by Mike: Give Me Something EP - Scars on 45 Heart On Fire EP - Scars on 45  Smörgåsbord by Matt: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception The Big 3: The One Where Future Tech in Movies That Just Didn't Ever Happen is Discussed: Dave's Choice - Tron: The Original Classic (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) Matt's Choice - Total Recall [Blu-ray] Mike's Choice - Johnny Mnemonic [Blu-ray] Roundtable Randomness: Yo Momma, The Complete First Season Heavy Hitz Seagal of the Week: Fire Down Below
