The movie show is back and better than ever, with Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl in studio, this time taking on the films of classic comedian Eddie Murphy. Put them into the bracket, and match them up one by one. And when you have a talent as big as Eddie Murphy, and talent as small as Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, then to even it out, the Deucecast welcomes in Friend of the Show, the Pride of the Mitten, The Remodeling One himself, Clay Shaver.
It's the throes of Summer... it's Midsommar, as it were. And Mikey and Dave are joined by a returning world traveler, #Twitterless Dr Earl, to discuss another round of films seen in the last few weeks. Discussions including Tim Burton's falling star... Big budget flops of 2019... Zendaya as MJ in Spider-Man.. The entire Child Play franchise... What's a Forky... Dr Earl's pretentious corner... ESPN's 30 for 30s... Happy Fourth of July from everyone at The Deucecast, including Mikey, Dave and of course #TwitterlessDrEarl, and our extended Friends and Co-hosts Pinky, Producer Tommy and Producer Shawn! For this July 4th episode, the Deucecast crew does... well, nothing to celebrate. Instead, they talk Disney movies, and to do so, they call up Friend of the Show Jenn Novotny.
In this superhero edition of The Deucecast Movie Show, Mikey and Dave, sans #TwitterlessDrEarl, take on the long running Tourney series, this time with a heroic task... the best superhero role in the movies.
Sometimes you get movies you love that are awesome... sometimes you get movies that you love that are otherwise terrible... and sometimes you get movies that are supposed to be fantastic, but you just can't quite get it together enough to like them. Appreciate them, sure. Like them? Nope. And to discuss such serious matters, Dave and Mikey bring in cinephile and independent auteur Friend of the Show Jeremy Burgess. First up, Birthday Movies! Find out how old 22 Jump Street is... and Tarzan... and Rocky II... and the incredible June that was in 1989 Studio Themes is the name of the game this time around, as the guys try to guess the quick music presenting everything from Amblin to Universal. Finally, the top five movie disappointments... from Roma to Vice to a Chris Nolan epic to a Godfather sequel to a Harry Potter tripe. And finally, Dave dissects what exactly is wrong with the movie Boyhood and why Burgess is wrong for loving it so much. While Mikey just hates it.
It's only been a few weeks since the last ReFlicktions, but there was much to discuss such as new releases Rocketman, Dark Phoenix, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters! Mikey and Dave bring in Friend of the Show, Miss Independent himself Jeremy Burgess (much to the delight of Superfan Craig H!) In these ReFlicktion discussions, the guys touch on Burgess' love of Godzilla... Dave's random Christian movie choice... will Robert Pattison (R Batz) be a good Batman... Asian movies that aren't Crazy Rich Asians... Keanu chit chat... Mikey loving Illumination films... Olivia Wilde's directing... Hicksplotation... and how does Taran Egerton do as Elton John in Rocketman Plus the Top Five of 2019 so far... and DaveSplosion returns with new film assignments! Movies discussed: The Souvenir... It is the summer summer summer time movie preview, as Will Smith rapped many years ago. Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl hustled to the mall to get them a short set, then fill your earholes with all the summer movies upcoming in June, July and August. Scary Stories! Gerard Butler, falling! More Angry Birds and Bill Murray's back and Tarantino's 9th and just talkin' bout Shaft. All the movies you need to see in one episode, The Deucecast Movie Show Summer Movie Preview show.
With a heaping helping of movie reviews, it's another ReFlicktions episode! Topics include... Donald Glover's latest... a Sam Elliott double feature... Dave catches a missing Tarantino... Dr Earl goes way back... Zac Efron plays evil... the crap that Mikey and Dave goes through for Avengers... bad Sandy Bullock... Mikey gets sappy... and John Wick adds to his body count. Plus, the new top five for the year. Batter up!! The baseball season is in full swing, with the oil of the leather gloves, the seams of the baseball, the smell of the fresh cut grass, and the nonsensical nonsense of hosts Mikey and Dave for another exciting episode of The Deucecast! To discuss baseball, however, they need to get in someone who has some credibility -- like baseball author, Royals enthusiast and new Friend of the Show Ethan Bryan! The guys discuss baseball from the outset, including Ethan's love of baseball and baseball movies. Then, the topic at hand is Top Five Baseball Scenes, and the guys celebrate films and key scenes from movies like Major League (Taylor bunts!) and Bull Durham (a place setting...) and even a Few Good Men (you're charging him with possession of a condiment?) So get your popcorn and cracker jacks, and enjoy the show since we'll always come back.
The Road to 400 continues, ever closer that before, when the guys weren't as close to 400, but are closer now. That is Mikey and Dave, this time with an empty pretentious corner, as #TwitterlessDrEarl has gone off to perform neurosurgery on orphans somewhere in Wichita. But on the Binder & Binder Hotline is none other than the Amish One herself, Friend of the Show Jenn Novotny, all the way from Pennsylvania to help us discuss our favorite actors we'll watch in anything. After a quick chat about Disney topics, including the new Star Wars news and the Disney+ Streaming service, plus a plug for Jenn Boo, aka, Brady's new album coming soon. Then the topic at hand, the actors that we'll watch in anything, no matter how good or bad the movie might be. Great chats on Scoot McNairy... Liam Neeson... Jason Segel... the awesome of Tom Hanks... Mikey's mancrush on Ben Foster... Dave's mancrush on The Rock... Novotny's mancrush on Benedict Cumberbatch, maybe.
In an episode that can best describe the podcast here, Best of the Worst definitely can include Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl... and what better way to discuss below average and mediocrity that our good friend from way cross Georgia, in a little town called Vinings (or wherever), The Spawn of Ryfun, aka, Garrison gets on the hotline. New theme song in tow, he's in to youth up the place, in the absence of the forlorn Pinky, still stuck in a Chinese gulag (though it might be Thai, there is no evidence) After playing a round of the Percentages, including finding out the highest -- and lowest -- Rotten Tomatoes scores from a bevy of actors, including Samuel L Jackson... Bradley Cooper... and even Brie Larson. Then, its onto the countdown, where the guys rank their favorite low score Rotten Tomatoes films. Dandy movies starring the aforementioned Sam Jackson... and Kevin James... The Rock... BatFleck... and much more! So sit back and enjoy the show, riffing on how much they love some truly awful films from 2010 until present day!
Last week, they were a crew of moviegoers who had not seen Avengers Endgame. This week, having seen it multiple times each, they see with a new set of eyes. Think with a new set of thoughts. See with... you get the the picture. Either way, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl are here to dish on what ends up being the biggest film of the weekend, and possibly the biggest film of all time. Avengers Endgame. The guys are joined by Friend of the Show Jared McG, and they do a quick dive into the new Star Wars Trailer first. Then, a spoiler free review of Avengers Endgame (with instructions about the bonus content after Kenny wraps ups his ending tune.) Then, the guys give their Top Five Movie Franchises of all time... any films series that is 4 or more, and contained within the same universe. Characters like Wolverine, and Indy, and Kermit, and Dom, and Ethan, and of course, Bond... James Bond. Then, after the show, stick around as the team spoils the heck out of Endgame, as they take a deep dive into the movie, some of the Easter Eggs, what they liked, loved and felt lacking about the film -- you are given plenty of warning on the spoilers, though.
It's a moment we've been waiting for since last April... but now its Avengers Endgame Week!!! Dave and Mikey already have their tickets, as well as #TwitterlessDrEarl, and bringing in the original OG, the Young G, every since he was a lower case G, but now he's a Big G, girls see he got the money, hunnah dolla bills y'all... the Son of the Pride of Tifton Georgia, little Garrison Ryfun. Kicking it off right at the top, the guys run through all of the movies in the Cinematic Timeline -- not just years released, but chronological in the story's timeline, with Captain Marvel coming right at the end. For most people, this would be refresher, perhaps covering movies no one has seen in a while (Thor!?)... the guys talk about first appearances in each movie (where did Bucky show up? What about Howard Stark? And Black Widow??), giving their takes on each of the films, and finally give their top five faves each, and the essentials of the MCU. And a refresher on the end credit scenes... all getting you ready for the Avengers Endgame premiere!
Springtime has sprung(time) and it's time for the April edition of ReFlicktions. Mikey and Dave, and Friend of the Show and Part Time Contributor and Some Time Brie Larsen lover and all time Alison Brie Lover and most of the time world traveler and a little bit of the time movie critic and Full Time Doctor Earl. After Birthday movies, which reveals what a debacle April 1994 was, and what a masterpiece April 1989 was, they guys jump right into the films they've seen over the last few weeks -- with Mikey not watching as many, Dave coming back from an 8 day non-movie-watching vacation, and Dr Earl just doing Dr Earl things. And the very first edition of SpirituEarl, where Dr Earl breaks down three faith based films assigned to him from Dave & Mikey and Friend of the Show J Kaufman And the guys first Top Five of the Year! Topics include... Ben Affleck's acting... a shout out to Aussie Nate... old school Woody Allen films... weird Lupita impressions... the joy of Shazam!... a lengthy discussion on Elizabeth Holmes, as featured in the documentary The Inventor... the latest from the director of Brawl In Cell Block 99 and Bone Tomahawk... Mikey gets emotional at a cartoon... what Dave really thought of Dumbo... the overhype of Destoyer... and thoughts on Hellboy. MOVIES DISCUSSED Down to Earth... Triple Frontier... Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore... Wedding Daze... The Commuter... Midnight Express... Manhattan... US... Shazam!... The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley... Dragged Across Concrete... The First Purge... Wonder Park... Dumbo... Izzy Gets the F Across Town... What If?... Destroyer... The Party's Just Beginning... Pet Sematary... Hellboy
It's another Tournament Episode for The Deucecast Movie Show, as Dave and Mikey seek to find the greatest movie role ever, and this time, it's two comedic legends. The greatest movie roles of John Candy (Barf! Chet Ripley! Del Russell! Uncle Buck) take on the greatest movie roles of Steve Martin (CD! George Banks! Navin the Jerk!) one by one, until only one is standing and moves on to the Big Bracket. And of course the best person to bring in for this kind of frivolity is Friend of the Show, Michigan's Own Remodeling No Just Clay Shaver. He gives the bracket match by match, and jumps in with his own thoughts as well as breaking some ties. Great conversation throughout with beloved actors and some films that deserve many discussions!
