The Good, The Bad and the JoBlo Movie Podcast

You ever wonder which 300lb black guys should be picked to run a rape train on Adam Sandler and Al Pacino in movie jail? Wonder no more. The JoBlo Podcast is back from hiatus to provide Johnny Moreno reviews of WARRIOR and The Chicago Comic Con (where he found himself disappointed with the cosplay), and my own reviews of FRIGHT NIGHT, FINAL DESTINATION 5, THE BEAVER, THE CHANGE-UP, and a crap-load of other films I caught in the last two weeks. Sandler and Pacino go back on trial for that God-awful JACK & JILL trailer. We also consider Nick Nolte, Ben Affleck, Val Kilmer, Johnny Depp, and Nic Cage. Dig in, folks, this is a long one.

As Summer comes to a close Johnny Moreno thought it best that I take some time to myself to gather my thoughts and think about all the awful sh*t I say on a weekly basis. Meanwhile, he gets together with Computerized Voice Guy and a very special guest to bring you some of our best bits from the last few months. There's Nic cage telling us about his wigs, Edgar Wright getting all awkward about sharing dildos, and Guillermo del Toro talking video games and the method to his mayhem. Johnny Moreno brings us his thoughts about RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and revisits THE INFORMANT and INCEPTION. I check out BELLFLOWER, BAD TEACHER, FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, and HESHER. A couple voicemails demand Moreno to explain the 'Summer of Mediocrity" and have us describe what our CHANGE-UP film would be like (Moreno knocks up my wife). There's discussion about the lack of need for another DIE HARD, why FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS should be left alone, and a spirited argument about ROCKY IV, and more specifically, the James Brown performance within said movie.

Johnny Moreno and I put the band back together just in time for our CAPTAIN AMERICA reviews. Then Mike Sampson joins the party to discuss the greatness of ATTACK THE BLOCK with Moreno, whom continues his British invasion with GANGSTER NO. 1 and HARRY BROWN. We put Comic Con to rest for another year and hear from Sampson what 2012 might hold for us. Previewing RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES has Moreno and I completely switching sides, Moreno wants to fight John Cusack, SOUL SURFER has the funniest shark attack scene in years, and I am lost in a giant pile of voicemail. It took us four full nights of drunken debauchery and one entire show that we couldn't even use but we finally got our asses together and recorded the 2011 Comic Con shows, without a second to spare. The great Chris Bumbray has abruptly ended the 2011 Apology Tour just in time to sit in with Moreno and Me for an epic discussion on TRANSFORMERS 3. From there, Moreno and C-Bum review the novel, Savages, hate and loathing for LARRY CROWNE, Moreno and I get hooked on the BBC's "Luther", and I try to explain why Dreamworks kicked Pixar's ass for the first time in their existence. I also check out THE LEDGE and IRONCLAD and giggle a lot.

The great El Guapo stops in to give us the lowdown on CARS 2 and it ain't good. Eric Walkuski breaks up with Ammon long enough to discuss BAD TEACHER with Moreno. We answer some great voicemail questions regarding Tom Savini's nutsack, the drug problem of Gandalf The Grey, and A SERBIAN FILM. My world stops as JimmyO and I get to chat with Pixar's Creative Chief, John Lasseter about CARS 2, MONSTERS INC. 2, and the future of the greatest studio on the planet. Mike Sampson joins us afterward to help me review GREEN LANTERN, we look ahead to BAD TEACHER, mini-review CEDAR RAPIDS, argue about SUPER 8, and Moreno finally checks out 'The Walking Dead'. I take my half of this act to Johnny Moreno's backyard, the great city of Chicago, and barely live to tell the tale. Chris Bumbray leaves a voicemail to deal with all the haters that popped up after he reviewed the new Pirates movie.
