Jimmy O bursts back into the Podcast spotlight with a fantastic interview with director, David Cronenberg. After talk of COSMOPOLIS Jimmy sticks around to review THE EXPENDABLES 2, and HIT AND RUN. He, of course, loves everything. Meanwhile, Law and Moreno try to help get a movie made in Chicago (https://www.facebook.com/4ofakindfilm) and put Nicholas Cage on the hot seat of Movie Jail. From there the boys review PARANORMAN, KILLER JOE, and THE DICTATOR. The TV Round-Up is filled with more 'Breaking Bad' epicness and New Releases gets the drunken-end-of-the-show run through. A couple voicemails to close shop and we're out. Later.
A slow week in movie news has no effect on Law and Moreno as they replace trips to the theater with booze. Breaking Bad has the boys wondering what might happen at the end of this half-season so they make some predictions. Vince Vaughn earns himself a Movie Jail trial. We watch and review DARK DAYS, THE INNKEEPERS, MI: GHOST PROTOCOL, V/H/S, and LOVELY MOLLY. There's talk of why Kelly McGillis has triple-aged since TOP GUN, the weakest Olympic Games wrap-up of all time, and an argument about who would win in a fight between Godzilla and Mega Shark. This is quality programming at it's drunkest. Stay tuned after the credits for one of our stupidest conversations ever.
Law and Moreno are back together and have decided to bring it all to the table. There's PTI (Pirates of the Interruption) where we discuss what's ahead for the Batman, why (how) there's going to be three HOBBIT movies, whether or not anybody cares about GHOSTBUSTERS 3 at this point, and what we think of the new PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 trailer. Then we break into Movie Jail to see the verdict of last week's defendant (Robert De Niro) and throw somebody else on the block. Moreno finally checks out TED while Law enjoys himself during THE TALL MAN and BERNIE. After New Releases the boys get back to The TV Round-Up and have their first discussion together about the on-going brilliance that is Breaking Bad. And finally, the boys wrap things up with a couple voicemails where they get to delve deeper into what the future of Batman should be and what movies to watch when your girlfriend leaves you. Bring a tissue.
The Mexican has left for another week off so I go to my big guns and grab the great Jimmy O and the awesome Eric Walkuski to help me get through the week. Jimmy has a lot to say about THE WATCH (none of it too good), a tiny bit to say about TOTAL RECALL (f'ing embargoes), re-visits JAWS with the arrival of the new Blu-ray, and schools me in the films of Marilyn Monroe. Eric sits in for the TV Round-Up to talk about the epic going-ons of 'Breaking Bad'. Law finally gets his (SPOILERIFIC) say on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (not the gushing love you might expect) and also checks out TED and COMIC CON EPISODE IV: A FAN'S HOPE. We'll try to get the band back together next week.
While the Canadian is away, the Mexican will play. Jim Law is on vacation (his fifth one of the year) so Moreno takes the bull by the horns and steers the ship along its podcast course. Is it a bull or a ship? Get with it man! First, a quick revisit from our Ernest Cline interview where he discusses his multitude of Deloreans. The Ready Player One author is the bomb diggity. From there, Moreno welcomes Jason Adams for his second appearance on the podcast in two weeks. Slow down Adams, I got a job to protect here. Moreno and Adams give their review of The Dark Knight Rises (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS), and why everyone in the flick has glaring moles. JoBlo.com's own Niki Stephens then hops into the TV Round Up segment to discuss the Season 5 premiere of Breaking Bad (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS), theories on where the show may be going, and why the discovery of Aaron Paul being on The Price is Right 14 years ago is one of the funniest/most surreal moments ever. After Niki bounces out, Adams watches and hates Newsarama (yeah, I know it's Newsroom but I like that better) and the boys discuss Eddie Murphy standing trial for Movie Jail and New Releases. There ain't shit coming out, son.
From the moment I say "Welcome to the JoBlo Movie Podcast..." this show is nothing but pandemonium. Recording in front of a live audience, at the great Tilted Kilt in the heart of San Diego, the Podcast welcomes JoBlo.com's official Comic Con team to help bring you all the details of what we covered this past weekend. Jimmy O, Eric Walkuski, Jason Adams, Nick Bosworth, Rusty Eltringham, and a few cameos by some fans of the show - Dude From the Stairs, Tony, & Derek (who got Jimmy O wasted) all come together for one of the most epic recordings I've ever been a part of. Not to mention that we also have interviews with Thomas Jane & Tim Bradstreet (on a bed) and the amazing Matt Damon. I know it's all too much to handle but you're going to have to buckle up and pound a few dozen beers if you have any chance of keeping up with us. Let's do it!
There have been a ton of great moments during our interviews over the years.... but none quite like this. Ernie Cline, author of 'Ready Player One' joins Law and Moreno for one of the most energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, hilarious, and epic conversations in the history of this show. Fresh off his paperback promotional tour, Ernie sits back to reminisce about how his life has changed since the novel hit shelves, what's in store for the film adaptation, and whether or not he's done with the fantastic world of Ready Player One. Sequels? Two Sequels? Come in and find out. Ernie tells us what it's like getting pulled over in a DeLorean (and why a replica flux capacitor is a must), how he managed to get Wil Wheaton (pictured below signing books with Ernie) to read the audiobook, what it's like to play a video game based on your own book based on a video game (head explodes), and why he hates TEEN WOLF. All of this goes on in between moments of such geek infested rambling, you'll wonder if this is the actual soundtrack in heaven. Read the book, play his book-inspired scavenger hunt to win a DeLorean, listen to this podcast, and thank us in the morning. I'm serious, I'll be expecting your email.
Another jam-packed edition of the JoBlo Movie Podcast starts with Chris Bumbray joining Law and Moreno to review SAVAGES. It's not the threesome you were hoping for. When C-Bum leaves Law gets busy with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and MAGIC MIKE in What Did You Watch. TV Round-Up makes an inspired comeback with Moreno pulling a 'Justified' all-nighter and a voicemail requesting some recommendations for great shows that have finished their run. Moreno wraps up 'A Dance With Dragons' in Literally Literary and then the boys look at what's coming out this week in New Releases. And that's that. Be sure to come back later this week for our Special Edition Podcast featuring the boy's interview with Ernie Cline, author of 'Ready Player One'. It's a keeper.
Law and Moreno welcome Jason Adams in to celebrate the awesomeness of TEEN WOLF. Come in and join us as we worship Stiles, wonder if Boof is banging Scotty's dad, notice that Mick is almost as hairy as Teen Wolf, and generally rip apart one of our favorite 80's films of all time. How many kids died van surfing after this came out? Why is that dude's pants undone at the end? How does Stiles get to open a store IN the school? So many questions, so many stupid drunken answers. There's booze, laughs, and shameless lust of Boof and her perky perks. Why wouldn't you listen?
To get you more than ready for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN this week The JoBlo Movie Podcast has pulled out all the guns. First, we're joined by the great Eric Walkuski of Blood, Bullets, and Broad: The Arrow in the Head Podcast, who brings us a great interview with new Spidey director, Marc webb. Then, Eric is kind enough to stick around and give us his exclusive review for the film. After Eric leaves Moreno and Law re-visit the entire original SPIDER-MAN Trilogy and discuss the good, the bad, and the ridiculously horrible. After we're done with the Web-Head it's time to check out some New Releases and dive into some long overdue voicemail. Consider your ass thwipped.
JoBlo.com veteran, Jason Adams joins the show to tell us whether or not TED is worth checking out this weekend. He also teams up with Law for a double take on BRAVE. Jason takes in a Nicholas Cage double-feature with GHOST RIDER 2: NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR SUBTITLE and SEEKING JUSTICE. Then Moreno decides to put Eddie Murphy on Movie Jail trial after listening to Law tear apart A THOUSAND WORDS. From there it's all booze and stories of our wives wanting to see MAGIC MIKE. A lot.
With a gaping hole provided by the end of 'Game of Thrones', Law and Moreno look to the written (and spoken) word, the theater, and booze to fill the void. Moreno checks out THAT'S MY BOY and BEING ELMO while Law looks in on SAFE HOUSE and JERSEY SHORE SHARK ATTACK. One of these reviews is not like the others. Literally Literary allows us to speak kindly of things like A Dance With Dragons and Robopocalypse. Finally, we take a look into this weekend's releases and wonder if the rumors are true about BRAVE. They better not be.
Law and Moreno have a long passionate talk about the meaning of PROMETHEUS and it's many questions while trying to understand the why, who, and where of it all. Game of Thrones comes to it's fantastic conclusion as the boys try to figure out whether or not they want to watch True Blood starting next week. We also review JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME, WANDERLUST, and MADAGASCAR: EUROPE'S MOST WANTED.
The JoBlo Movie Podcast has all your needs leading up to the release of PROMETHEUS this coming Friday. First is Jimmy O's fantastic interview with star, Noomi Rapace. Then we get exclusive first time thoughts on the film from Jimmy and Chris Bumbray, the top two critics on the JoBlo network. Still not enough for you? How about reviews of SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN from Bumbray and a trio of thoughts on PIRANHA 3DD from Law Moreno and C-Bum. We also try to catch our breath after last week's 'Game of Thrones' while Law checks out PROJECT X and 'The Hatfields & McCoys' and Moreno watches GOD BLESS AMERICA and GET THE GRINGO. All this plus New Releases and Literally Literary. Your ears are going to jizz.
In honor of Memorial Day (this made perfect sense at the time) we decided to tackle the ass-kicking greatness of Arnold in COMMANDO. Come find out how Rae Dawn Chong goes from "What an annoying b-tch" to "I'd bang the sh-t out of her" in less than an hour. Why we thought Carl Weathers was in this movie, twice. What exactly Arnold is fascinated by with his watch. Why he refuses to put Alyssa Milano down for more than one second at a time. Why Sully is so damn horny. And what the deal is with that self-repairing Porsche. Is it a Transformer? Maybe. Maybe not. All this and more as you work through your long-weekend hangover. Let us do all the work.
