Discovery 2 Live: Chase The Ace, The Manic Shine, The Undivided, Nakisha Esnard and Samson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:52:00

Check out the full live sets and interviews from Discovery 2’s April showcase. This month’s gig night features some jaw dropping rock acts including Chase the Ace, The Manic Shine and The Undivided. You’ll also hear the effervescent Nakisha Esnard fusing reggae, opera and hip-hop, and singer-songwriter Samson. Don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of the post and check out the photo gallery courtesy of Amanda Rose Photography. More about the artists Chase the Ace Chase the Ace are sleaze drippin’ and hard rockin’ . Bringing you a slick modern twist on the guitar wailing, drum crushing bands of the 80’s, Chase the Ace’s approach of “running as fast as you can with your eyes closed” is proving itself. In their short time of existence, the four-piece Rock band released a well praised debut album named ‘Are You Ready’, absolved 5 European tours through UK, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Holland, played more than 50 headline shows as well as several festivals, and keep on conquering the rock charts around the world. Chase the Ace pride themselves with innovative and eccentric stage performances, captivating the audience, whereby their influences such as AC/DC, Van Halen, MötleyCrüe aspire but nevertheless are presented in an original and modern sound. “Takes an AC/DC blast and sleazes it up. A simple formula but you’ll be singing it for days on end.” – Fireworks Magazine 2015 “These guys rock fairly good on a par with many established acts. The fun vibe is supported by well penned songs and strong instrumentation, all crowned by a first rate production for an indie. A really enjoyable collection of rockers from a new promising band. Keep an eye put on them.” – 0DayRockz “Pure Rocknroll!” – Ultimate Guitar The Manic Shine Linking alt-rock and ambient sounds with towering riffs and pounding rhythms may sound tough for some but The Manic Shine take it all in their stride. Never a band to shy away from experimentation, 2014’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Let Go Or Be Dragged’ showcased a tour de force of rock musicianship and genre-bending, with songs lamenting the contradictions of modern life. The last year has seen the band go from strength to strength, gaining support and spins on XFM’s The Rock Show to featuring in Kerrang! on Scuzz TV and many plays on BBC Introducing. The past 6 months have seen the band deep in writing and rehearsal for a new EP. Now with producer Lee Batiuk (Deaf Havana) on board and a new explosive offering planned for release in the fall and national tours to support, the London quartet are set for a busy and exciting 2015. “Melting our ears…Alt Rock + Big Riffs = This lot. Absolutely Thumping!” – Kerrang! The Manic Shine return with an album choked full of intelligent intricate riffs, relentless melodies and catchy hooks.”- Amazing Radio, Rock Show The Undivided One of the most exciting anthemic rock acts to emerge from South Wales in decades . They’ve supported  Kids In Glass Houses, The Dirty Youth, IDivide, Ask and Xerts. Festivals so far Merthyr Rock, Camden Rocks, Nightmare Fest. The Undivided secured a sync placement for the instrumental version of ‘Headlights’ from the previous album ‘This New Day’ on the opening and closing credits of BBC 4 Royal Institute Christmas lectures, screen on  29th, 30th and 31st December 2014. The band are heading over to Canadian Music week and receiving US and Canadian College radio airplay which has already awarded them a CMJ radio distinction. They have recently written and produced their new music with Dan Weller (Sikth). “ The Undivided have a knack for writing anthemic songs as big as the mountains that overshadow their hometown of Abergavenny” – Kerrang! Magazine “Wingman guitarist Bray does a fine line in stadium trashing intros, and numbers like ‘Open Your Eyes’ and ‘Panic’ are immediately mesmerising. Singer Joe comes alive on these numbers too, as if he knows Bray’s scorching intros,

Discovery 2 Preview with Vinyl Staircase, Lowly Hounds, Hana Piranha, Damien McFly and Esperi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:00

Our July showcase features the psychedelic/math rock sounds of Vinyl Staircase, hard howling, blues rock and high octane songs from Lowly Hounds, dark goth, punk riffs, razor sharp violin licks and drawled, snarly vocals of Hana Piranha, the charismatic Italian folk singer Damien McFly who has 10,000 subscribers on his You Tube Channel, and the extraordinary Esperi returns to Discovery, who creates live soundscapes with an unusual array of instruments. Gig Particulars When: Thursday 30th July, 2015 Doors: 7.30pm  Show starts: 8.00pm Venue: 229 The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PN Tube: Great Portland Street Join the Facebook Event Tickets: £7 in advance or £10 at the door More about the artists VINYL STAIRCASE facebook.com/Vinyl.Staircase Vinyl Staircase’s psychedelic sound with hints of Math-rock backed by a profound energy and bite that has seen full capacity venues collapse into chaos has bagged the band a feature in NME and airplay on key radio stations such as Amazing Radio; all whilst still at college. Due to supporting buzz bands such as Demob Happy and headline slots in their hometown of Guildford, the band are beginning to pick up momentum and move further up the new music scene. “Pop nuggets like ‘Into The Aquarelle’ borrow psych guitar sounds and throw in twinkling arpeggios along side post-hardcore vocals, with the odd math-rock schism to break it up.” – NME Magazine “4 teenagers from Surrey with amazing hair but better tunes. Like television but with fat distortion pedals. SO RAD.” – Joel Amey from Wolf Alice (Wolf Alice Fanzine) LOWLY HOUNDS facebook.com/lowlyhounds Passion for the vintagevibe, american blues and the best of funk and soul brought together four eclectic session musicians who, having hit a wall working for other scene bands, were eager to write rock music worthy of beale street and beyond. The Hounds high energy, surgically crafted music is the result of inspiration from generational songwriters, deep soul sounds and blue samericana. With hard howling riffs, boundless energy and high octane songs, conjure asound akin to White Denim, Alabama Shakes and Catfish & The Bottlemen. They just played at Beacon Festival and for the past few months have been gigging in some of London's renowned venues "The new EP is going to rock your body and make you jump up and down on your bed with some great guitar vibes and classic british blues rock vocals.”- Mugzmag “I've been working with Nick Varey for years , and this is an artist that has never disappointed . Now roaring though the scene with Lowly Hounds i feel he's found the perfect equilibrium between a rocking live band with a kick and proper songwriting, an absolute sure thing to check out. - Famous Wolf Promotions HANA PIRAHNA facebook.com/dayreleaseforhanapiranha/timeline Hana Piranha is a classically trained virtuoso violinist. From an early age she identified with strong women and individuality. Like her heroes Patti Smith and PJ Harvey, Hana has a complexity and vulnerability about her that shows you can be strong and triumphant by being wounded and fragile. "Not so much caravans and campfires, more like T-Birds and Tequila... It all sounds like Kittie covering AC/DC...with a violin." - Michael Johnson, Nemesis To Go "If you love music that comes from the heart, is loud, dark and a wee bit devilish - you’re going to love Hana Piranha."- Olivia Cellamare, Gypsy Death And You DAMIEN McFLY http://www.damienmcfly.com/ Hailing from Padova, Italy, Damien McFly is the moniker behind Damiano Ferrari,a driven, passionate and charismatic folk singer who bridges the gaps between old and new. His sound is a great compromise between the timeless vibes of country / folk and the catchy appeal of pop melodies with just a guitar, mandolin, double bass and drums. In order to get a solid fan base he released four Cover Collections in 2014 with more than 20 videos. Thanks to this,
