My Bad Poetry Presents: Board Games with Luke Wortley | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:08:12

Though originally cut for time, this boardgame conversation seemed to interesting to leave on the cutting room floor. So during this extended winter break My Bad Poetry decided to drop this special bonus mini Boardgame episode that has nothing to do with poetry whatsoever. Enjoy! Luke Wortley used to be a featured guest/co-host on the Game of Thrones Card Game podcast The White Book (named for the log that chronicles the history and roster of the Kingsguard in A Song of Ice and Fire series). He continued chronicling his love of boardgames with "The Board Game Blog" through 2022. Now at the end of 2023, he brings his passion for gaming and previous experience on a show all about games to the podcast.  Forty Ounce Magnum (w/ Lannie Stabile) | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:40:55

CW: Some references to abuse made throughout the episode. Lannie Stabile makes her triumphant return to the podcast as its "secret third co-host" with more rabbit holes as well as physical proof of future material (seven journals worth in fact!). Dave and Aaron are regaled with tales of theatre camp, pig fests, and spelling bees, that somehow are tangentially related to the bad poem she brought to the show. Since her last appearance, Lannie has had the poetry book The Inconvenience of Grief published through Animal Heart Press. Watch for her newest chapbook When the Forest Finds You coming soon! My Bad Poetry Episode 5.6: "Forty Ounce Magnum (w/ Lannie Stabile)" End Poem from a Real Poet: "The First Christmas Without Her" by Lannie Stabile found in The Inconvenience of Grief.  Shemjaza, [...], Glass, & Misiones (w/ Luke Wortley) | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:42:56

Content Warning: The final "bad" poem does deal with a death by suicide. Covering 34'-40'. _____ Luke Wortley tries a bold strategy coming on the show, which is exploring tangents long enough to never actually get to any of his "bad" poetry. Even his first poem distracts the co-hosts with the painting the ekphrastic is describing! Nevertheless, poems are discussed, from garbage to mitigated garbage, ending with a beautiful prose poem that is very good. * Luke Wortley is a poet in Indianapolis, Indiana, who has works published in Cincinnati Review, Variant Lit, and Maudlin House to name a few. His first full length book Shared Blood is available now through Gnashing Teeth Publishing. You can follow him on socials @LukeWortley. *Luke wants to correct a historical flub "Horacio Quiroga died in Buenos Aires, but Misiones is the name of his home and a museum dedicated to his life and craft as a storyteller." My Bad Poetry Episode 5.5: "Shemjaza, [...], Glass, & Misiones (w/ Luke Wortley)" End Poem from a Real Poet: "Cry" by Luke Wortley found in Shared Blood.  She Is... | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:21:40

Dave and Aaron return to their normal format after the Thanksgiving break just as previous Aaron seemed to return to his (rather unfortunate) normal form. The hosts get to brush up on the now classic "toxic masculinity" critique to see if slightly older high-school Aaron has matured at all. While Dave saw a glimmer of hope in a few lines of compassion, Aaron couldn't get past the cringe. My Bad Poetry Episode 5.4: "She Is..."
