SyncTV Launches TV Content Download Service

by Alex Nesbitt

SyncTV LogoSyncTV, a Pioneer spinoff, launches today with a new TV download service that will compete with iTunes. The service is in private test form today, offering an online a la carte channel lineup with downloadable DVD-quality programs.

The plan is that you will be able to subscribe to a channel and each channel should run about $2 per month. You can download all the shows available on the channels you subscribe to.

At this point the content is still limited in beta. The biggest content name that has signed on is Showtime.

A very interesting part of SyncTV’s plan is the ability to play the DVD-quality content on up to five devices in the home, and up to 10 different portable devices.

There is an audio interview with SyncTV president, John Gildred that tells you more about SyncTV

You can apply to be a beta tester at the SyncTV Web site.
