The Conversations Network, created by IT Conversations founder Doug Kaye, has launched Podcorps.

PodCorps.org is an all-volunteer team of audio/video producers who record and publish important spoken-word events anywhere in the world.

Here’s how it works:

• Stringers: Podcorps is building a community and database of PodCorps.org members, their locations, skills and interests who will record events
• Event Producers can register on Eventful.com, add the tag “podcorps” and the Podcorp’s matching system will find a stringer near you.
• 2008 Elections: As one example, PodCorps.org is part of the Political Speech initiative to capture, produce, publish and remix debates for the 2008 U.S. national, state and local elections.

So far, they have signed up 113 volunteers from around the world. Here’s where they are

I think Doug has a fantastic vision for a podcast commons infrastructure that allows everyone to start capturing and sharing the content produced in their very own neighborhood. Way to go!
