SplashCast Launched Last Night

by Alex Nesbitt

SplashCast allows you to create streaming media channels that combine video, music, photos, narration, text and RSS feeds. These channels can be played and syndicated on any web site, blog, or social network page. When channel owners modify their channel, their content is automatically updated across all the web pages tuned to that channel.

SplashCast is different from other online video sharing sites.

First, SplashCast is not a site; it is a service that allows you to play dynamically updated channels of content on your web page, blog, or social network page (like MySpace).

Second, while we believe video is a very powerful medium to communicate and entertain, video is not always the best medium. SplashCast is a mix-media service. This allows you to combine video with photos, music, text, and your own narration. You can now tell your stories in almost any way imaginable.

Third, SplashCast is a true syndication service. If you create a channel, whenever you add new content all the web pages currently “tuned” to your channel instantly receive the updated broadcast. If you create a channel people find interesting, you could find yourself broadcasting on hundreds or even thousands of web sites.
