It’s an interesting question that both Apple and Microsoft must be pondering. In the last battle, Microsoft showed up late with the graphical user interface - Windows, but eventually almost put Apple out of business.

Microsoft has a history of competing in second/third generation technology battles and has beaten Apple, Lotus and Netscape in the process.
