I might have fallen for it - had I not read your blog. I want to pay for my IPOD movies, but I sure as hell don't want to be ripped off by some third-party company, either. Thanks for your informative blog.

ipod-lounge.com seems ok but I have only purchased 1 movie from it so far (Eagle Eye) I paid via paypal, which i then received a direct link via email which I could download the movie to my computer. The link was an actual source which was part of ipod-lounge.com so I would recommend using the service.

If anyone knows of any other decent places to get movies please let me know.

http://www.ipod-lounge.com/ipodmovies/ this is the only legitimate site I've found. I've downloaded movies from new releases to older ones and they've all been excellent dvd quality! prices run from 4.99 to 14.99 and you can use paypal. There are no membership fees, no bull#%$@ instructions on how to get a torrent file, it's just a straight forward movie download.

Glad I looked at this. Was trying to find a better way to get movies then I Tunes and saw all the one-time fee websites. Was going to try one but wanted to get some feed back first! Glad I did! I wont do it now. Does anyone know of other paysites that will down load onto your ipod. I found one with movies from $1.99 to $9.99 called ipod-lounge.com. Does anyone know if this is anygood?

I'm kinda new at this. I just purchased an Ipod and want to add movies to it. Aside of iTunes, are there any other legitimate sites where you can purchase moves, and hopefully cheaper?

Guys-- be careful! I have noticed in lots of the comments that people are saying it is Google's fault, or Yahoo's fault that the posted scams. However, everyone should know that the ads they display are brought from a database. The websites pay Google to be put in the database, and in turn, Google searches the database and brings up ads that match your search. For people using Firefox- get the add-on WOT (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3456). It has saved me multiple times. basically, what it does is have a rating for virtually every site in 4 major categories. The ratings are based upon user ratings (people who have had experience with the website) and a database that is full of ratings done by an independent group. It also warns if the website is malicious. On a side note, if we should write to Google at all, it should be about a new system- have a way for users to report websites that scam to Google, so they can remove it from their database. This would dramatically decrease the amount of malicious websites out there. Lastly, just trust your gut feeling. If something doesn't feel right, then don't do it. Safe Surfing!

Guess I'm the latest to join the list of misled 'chumps'
I did a few hours research into these sites over a few days, looked around (ish) and found ipoddownloadspro.com
Flash website, looked good, not that expensive - so I thought 'oh heres an oppurtunity'
NOPE
Paid the money, clicked the link and got lead to a site giving me a link to download itunes and several other FREE programs. What a joke!
Luckily I used paypal so if the website refuses to resolve the issue, I have paypal on my side!
My tip: Use a DVD converter and take the extra hours to convert your own DVDs.

Listen everyone, the problem isn't that there are scammers on the internet taking your hard earned money, that has always happened. Happened before the internet and will happen in the next forum after the internet.
The REAL PROBLEM is legitimate company's, multi-billion $ companies, force feeding us, the consumers, SH*T.
Example Apple/ITunes.
Don't miss understand me, the IPod happens to be one of the greatest gadgets ever built. 160gb in the palm of your hand! The music playback could be a little bit better, but the video capabilites is outstanding.
Now if you are "smart?" enough to buy your movies from ITunes, $9.99 -13.99 each. What are you getting? A press 1 button system. Press 1 button and you will be charged and movie will download to your ITunes where you can send to your IPod. Convenient? Sure. Affordable? Hell no. Great quality, definately not.
Would you pay $13.99 for a pixalated dvd? I think not...so what makes your ipod movies any different.

FACT: DId you know that ITunes compresses their movies so much that a normal movie, say 5.2gb would end up being less then 1gb when converted to play on your IPOD.
Duh, whats that mean? It means that ITunes is giving you a very poor quality so that they can make more money. If ITunes wanted, they could give you a nearly identical conversion of any movie...but his will never happen!! Why?
Simply becuase the more you can put on your IPod, they more you will buy. They give you better quality, they make less money. Stop paying for poor quality.
Just remember there are about 5-6 legimate websites out there that offer movies for your Ipod, and they all follow ITunes business plan. Poorer quality equals more money.
You want quality? Find a good conversion program and do it yourself. It will take longer but the quality will be way better AND IT WON'T BE LOCKED. Meaning you can share with friends.
Oh, don't forget a decryption program or you'll never get pastthe security features embedded in every dvd.
Good luck, have fun. DON'T BE DUMB AND TRY TO SELL YOUR MP4'S. You don't want the feds knocking on your door.

I really wanted to download movies to watch on my iPod, and I did quite a bit of research on several different sites which do the "one payment, unlimited downloads" stuff, and after reading several blogs and reviews about them, I truly believed they'd work. I went for "www.ipoddownloadspro.com", from what I read it really seemed to be good, I really believed it. I thought the site looked a bit cheap, and you couldn't really find out much from it, but I went for it. I went for the cheapest one year subscription, and found out that once you log in as a member, you get taken to a completely different site, and all it had was downloads to different software, and guides on how to get the songs on your iPod? I was pissed off so much and still am. I'm just hoping I don't have more money taken. F***ing c*nts.

Stacey,

These sites provide legitimate pay per download services. I don't think they will play on an iPod, but you might be able to convert them with QuickTime.

Are there any reliable download sites? I've used itunes but they do not offer everything I'd like to get. I want to pay for movies since it is the right thing to do. I don't know the internet very well and I fugured most were scams.

Thanks Stacey

Negleh,

Why do you feel the need to be insulting? The internet is open to everyone, of all skill levels and experience. The point is anyone of any skill level and experience can be a publisher or consumer of content.

I know my way around the net and lots of these sites look very compelling and sucker people in. The internet is swimming in scams and then range from crude to quite sophisticated. Only by raising awareness can we hope to help the public know what's a scam and what's not.

Insulting people does not help.

I can't believe your stupid ass would even think that site was official in any way, look at how shitty it looked, and it's clearly an ad, yet you fell for it? What are you even doing on the internet, I'm surprised that you even know how to make a blog, let alone can't smell a scam.

This is great information. I got suckered, after buying an ipod I went to the Itunes website to download their program and up popped the myipodownload site. looked legit. once paid for I was let in as "member" and immediately became suspicious, nothing to offer but links to download what I could have done for free. I contacted their customer support and they sent me a link and directions to load Ares, which by the way wasn't listed in their members area. NICE! Another free download, which I did and it infected my computer. What a mess. I was pissed. I sent them a nasty letter this morning asking for my money back or I'd contact the attorney generals office. Not sure if this the right approach. Is there any other ideas in how to get my money back?
And if it's true P Kaa in what Alex says, you are a true scumbag. I work hard for my money and it pisses me off big time when low lifes like you part me from it. Wish I knew where ya lived.

I'm sure you could download lots of stuff. They give you links to BitTorrent software so you can get media from the torrent world. You could do that without paying $35. And anyway you're downloading pirated material so they are encouraging people to break the law.

I presume that you are patkaa26 at ClickBank. That's the affiliate name embedded n the link on the site your promoting.

Nice to know who you're dealing with scammer, when you read a bs comment like that.

The company that processes the card for youripodmovies.com is called Click Bank. Tele: 208-345-4245. I called and they sent an email confirmation of the credit. It takes 3-5 days to post to your account, so I will see if I actually get the refund.

Hi,
I have been looking at the ipoddownload.com site for a while now. The trouble was the hairs on my neck stood up, and I kept returning. Then I would think no one gives something for nothing today. Thanks a million for confiming what my subconcious knew all along. I just wanted to say thankyou for not having that ripped off feeling. Keep up the great work on every ones behalf.
                                                                             kind regards george.

I too, failed for this scam, but after 5 minutes of browsing through the aweful sites I requested for a refund and a day or two later I recieved confirmation of the deposit of my money. Don't be fooled by the pretty website, it's only a mask of phony tricks to get your money.

Damn you guys getting "scammed" are making it up in your own minds.

You claim to be getting "ripped off" but you never ask for a refund because *you* assume you won't get one.

Clickbank is one of the oldest and most reputable payment processors and product resellers on the internet, and one of the only sites I feel 100% safe purchasing products through.

I've gotten many refunds and kept many products from them - some ARE bad and some are good. The fact is you can *easily* get a refund with one short email.

You morons are so combative though that you lodge ridiculous disputes before you even ask for a refund.

Save your witch hunt for some type of illegitimate site puleez!
