FlashMic - Podcast Recording Microphone

by Alex Nesbitt

The HHB FlashMic looks like a product worth checking out, if you’ve got $1,300 to spare. It is a digital recording microphone with a built in flash recorder. The mic uses a Sennheiser omnidirectional condensor capsulle.

FlashMic

Records at the touch of a button in either linear or mpeg 2 formats. It has simple ‘drag and drop’ file transfer to either a Mac or PC using USB. Two AA batteries provide up to 8 hours continuous use. It comes with a 0-10 second prerecord buffer and 1GB of flash memory.

The FlashMic is getting some pretty positive reviews as well, such as this from Audio Media
This is a great tool because of its simplicity. Many people want to reliably capture speech with the minimum of fuss but in decent quality and, for them, extra facilities are a negative not a positive. For them this is the tool for the job – hats off to HHB

Now when will they make one we can all afford?
