Nokia has been working on an exciting new podcasting application which will run on Nokia’s new N91 phone. The main podcast directory of over 11,000 podcasts will be provided by Digital Podcast and the Digital Podcast Search Service is being used provide podcast search. Podshow and Podcast Alley top picks are also included in the directory section of the application.
I had been holding back on describing the application in more detail, but as more news has come out about the application it seemed like a good time to share what’s going on.

Nokia sent me a sample phone to play with and I love it. The phone is wifi enabled so it can connect directly to the internet via wifi. It comes with 4GB of storage and has a built in music player, fm radio and camera.

The most exciting part for podcast listeners is the podcast application that Nokia will be releasing soon. The podcasting application is really easy to use.

The first screen that pops up has three selection choices: Podcasts, Directories and Search. The first has your podcast subscriptions and is the place you can go to manage and play your podcasts. The second has the directories for the podcasts and the third provides search for podcasts.

Nokia’s Podcast Application is using Digital Podcast’s OPML files to provide a complete directory of podcasts for users, along with the top 50 at Digital Podcast and Podcast Alley.

The search feature works just like the Podcast Search Service, but right in your phone. Just select the podcast you want and subscribe.
