WHAT'S OPML?

You can use Digital Podcast's OPML file to import the directory right into your podcatcher.

OPML is a type of file format that is used to make directories usable by different software.

If you use a podcatcher, like Nimiq or Primetime, that allows users the privilege of importing OPML files into their directories then you can cut and paste the OPML URL for Digital Podcast into the OPML browser's address bar. This will create a link between your podcatcher and the Digital Podcast Directory. That way you can browse the directory from podcatcher and subscribe to podcasts.

If your podcatcher limits you to the software developer's proprietary directory I suggest you switch and/or send them a message to open up their directories. (If you know of other good podcatchers that allow users to import OPML files please let me know and I will let our readers know.)

The feeds listed on this opml page are were designed to be directory opml files, not rss subscription list files. OPML has a few formats for different purposes. I'm not sure why it was built that way. At least you would think that there would be something in the header to say which kind is which, but no the type is buried in the outline node for some reason. The directory type of OPML is what is used by podcatchers to import directories.

Anyway, if you are looking for the type of OPML you need to import/export feeds into and out of feed aggregators then you need an rss subscription list or xml feed list format.

I do publish directory feeds in that format, but they are more limited because I have had fewer requests for them.
