Episode-1026- Building Resiliency in our Children

The Survival Podcast show

Summary: Trey Gibson of The Family Podcast Network Many of our children and in fact I personally say young adults up to about the age of 40 have become part of what is being called the “tea cup generation”.  A group that has lost the ability to solve their own problems or deal with adversity or loosing or just about anything part of normal everyday life that doesn’t go perfect. The could be no better example of this then my recent coverage of the 100K Foot Bridge Parents want so their kids can cross a 2 foot wide, 4 inch deep concrete ditch.  If you haven’t see this yet please watch it and note the real tragedy is that, the kids are not the ones with a problem, they cross the ditch without any problems, the parents are the ones who are making a big deal out of this. To me the problem is escalating and become far more pronounced.  I personally think we should call the past generation tea cups and the one they are now parenting the “delicate little flower generation”, all this only a few generations separated from “the greatest generation”?  On that note I have invited Trey Gibson of The Family Podcast Network on to discuss building resilience in our children. Trey Gibson has a Masters degree in counseling psychology and 6 years in helping parents de-stress parenting.  Trey has four of his own kids and has been married to his wife Corrie for the last 8 years. After realizing his passion of showing parents how to take much of the stress out of parenting he launched his own website and podcast called The Family Podcast Network.  There he has dedicated his time to building parents up and showing them how to better raise healthy and strong kids…while not wanting to pull their hair out. He has also launched The Family Podcast Networks sister station, The Marriage Podcast where he and his wife discuss the keys to find and keep passion and fun in your marriage. He joins us today to discuss rebuilding resiliency in our children so that they are prepared for good times or bad.
