Faith To Follow, Strength To Remember

Gospel Music Roundup! show

Summary: Philippians 1:3-6 NASB I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it untilthe day of Christ Jesus. It has been quite a week here at Gospel Music Roundup!  Many changes are in the making, and as much as I would like to take control of it all, I have to rest in knowing the perfection of His will in my life only moves forward as I give Him the reins!  I have been offered a few things that, clearly, God has placed there;  For, as soon as I said "Yes!" all the minions of the underworld seemed to rise up against me.  But I know, as I trust in Him, His power will overcome all the stumbling blocks that satan tries to put in my way.  Just as God has given me the objective, my every step must rely on contact with Him, and following His commands. Today was a day we honored the Fallen of our American Military.  Those dedicated soldiers who placed themselves in harm's way and paid the ultimate price.  So many of them had no idea what was about to happen;  still others may have known the extreme danger they were in, and did their best to see to their objective in spite of the danger.  Some even knowingly laid down their lives, that others might live. They may not have been involved in the planning of their mission;  they were simply following their leaders' commands.  But each of them knew the purpose of their calling and took a certain pride in accomplishing their missions. Our calling, all too often, seems to get sidelined by non-essential tasks and mundane chores that busy our hands, but don't build the Kingdom;  Accepting Christ came with two mandates: John 15:12-17 nasb “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 13“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. 14“You are My friends if you do what I command you. 15“No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. 17“This I command you, that you love one another. and Matthew 28:17 “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” So, we are left with this:  Love each other, and bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, teaching those people to do the same; to LOVE EACH OTHER. But to this end, we tend to put everything else on earth ahead of this calling!  Visiting the sick has been replaced with mowing the lawn or weeding the garden or cleaning the gutters.  Helping the widow and the orphan has been sidelined by rushing home to watch TV with the family.  Feeding the hungry has been replaced with Parties, barbecues and other celebrations that are by invitation only.  We rationalize away "Work day at the church" with "I don't have time to even work on MY house!  How can I be expected to work on God's?"  The list of excuses is endless.  But until we STOP busying ourselves with things that have no effect on the Kingdom, we are simply miring ourselves in the creation of wood, hay and stubble that won't stand the test of FIRE. IN MEMORIUM to our Leader, Jesus Christ, and his laying down of His life for US, the tasks he whispers in our ears need to become priority!     In This Episode:   Terrance Allen            Battleground Tim Keesee            Christian Soldiers
