Microsoft Announces New Tablet Called Surface

SouthGeek Ramble and Review [Audio] show

Summary: Microsoft entered the tablet arena Monday evening with the announce of a new tablet designed specifically for Windows 8 called Surface.  This may be a bit confusing as Microsoft has had a methodology in the past few years called Surface Computing.  Are they just extending this idea into the tablet market by calling  their new tablet Surface?  Maybe.  More to the point, this indicates that Microsoft realizes that they needed a legitimate purpose for Windows 8 and the Metro interface, something that many of us have cried foul on when it came to Windows 8 on the desktop.
