Episode 67 – Kenley, Kelly, and the Lack of Relief | Blue Heaven Podcast

Dodgers Nation: Blue Heaven Podcast show

Summary: Clint and Brook welcome Dodgers stats man Rick Krajewski back to the show as we chat about the struggle bus LA bullpen, and enjoy the Yeli v Belli NL MVP blood bath. Also on today's show: - The weird Philly series - Defensive issues with Pollock over Verdugo - MLB Trade SZN updates - Rick's personal first half highlights The Dodgers are 4-3 since the All-Star break after splitting a weird series in Philly. The bullpen busted out all of their greatest hits when it comes to struggling as the boys in blue limp back home. Plus we look at "plunk SZN" as the team got hit by a lot of pitches, and lost utility man Chris Taylor for the foreseeable future. We dig into some of the numbers surrounding the bullpen and wonder if Kenley Jansen can remodel his game after hall of famer Mariano Rivera later into his career. Plus, Joe Kelly has been better of late, but still not 100% ready for prime time. Corey Seager's post-IL slump is dispelled by Rick using the power of stats, and everyone has praise for future friend of the show Gavin Lux after a huge day in triple-A. The argument is made that Alex Verdugo should be in center over AJ Pollock, and that he should play every day (even with AJ hitting well). The Fun Stuff Next we look into how great the "Yeli vs Belli Blood Bath battle for NL MVP" is for baseball, and equate it to another great battle between superstars in MLB history. Clint argues that Bellinger has the edge thanks to his softball player pre-game cocktail. And finally, we give the floor to Rick as he regales us with his first half highlights, including Hyun-Jin Ryu, an 8 home run opening day, and Orel Hershiser. Learn more about your ad choices.
