When you don’t have a learning track and you’re not gaining knowledge it is hard to be an intentional doer because you cover up your inefficiencies with busyness. — The day that matters most is today. What makes today work is not what you actually do today. What makes today work is what you did yesterday, the day before, or what you’ve been doing for the last year. What you’ve done in the past has a compounding impact on today. — Where do you need to learn? Learning is a decision after you’ve evaluated where you need to improve. Learning needs to lead to three specific things: 1. Learning needs to lead to accumulated knowledge that facilitates action. If you don’t know how to do something you won’t do it or you will do it poorly. Knowledge is about doing. It doesn’t matter if you don’t take action. 2. When you’re continuously learning the action must be improved. The top 10% pursue mastery through role playing, learning and doing. When you’re taking action you will learn how to do it better, more fluidly, with less drag, with faster results which yields faster income, which increases your hourly worth. 3. Mastery of an action reduces the need to learn, not the elimination of it. When the action improves and the results improve then you don’t need to improve as much or as fast. You have to ask yourself, what do I need to improve in practice to make the action a habit that I have no fear or doubt in my execution? — In sales, there are six things that you need to focus on mastering: 1. Setting appointments 2. Deep strategic interviewing 3. Customized solutions 4. Optimizing client experience 5. Managing objections 6. Running a team All of these actions require knowledge that need to be mastered to be in the top 10%.
