A Crime to Remember S5E2: The Bad Old Days

Watching ID show

Summary: In this episode of A Crime to Remember, The Bad Old Days, panic and terror grip Chicago after the brutal and ritualistic killings of two women and the disappearance of a ten year old girl. A message on the wall of one of the crime scenes in red lipstick reads “For heaven’s sake catch me before I kill more…”

But was this written by the killer or was it planted by a reporter anxious to put out sensationalized stories? The police and the local newspapers are desperate to tell the people of Chicago that their killer has been caught. But the police tactics used to get a confession are cruel and unconscionable, making it unreliable and probably untrue. There is a definite lesson here on false confessions. We hope that things have changed and things wouldn’t happen this way if this crime occurred today. Told mostly from the perspective of a reporter in 1946, this episode of ACTR gives us another history lesson within a fascinating true crime story!

Leave us a review
