Pentagon wants more leeway on Truth in Negotiations Act

Summary: Ellen Lord is the Trump administration's first, and also last undersecretary of Defense for acquisition, technology and logistics. She says it's possible to cut the time it takes for the Defense Department to acquire a new weapons system by 50 percent. To do it, she says the Pentagon needs to be more lenient with contractors about how much of their cost and pricing data they're forced to turn over to the government. The department is asking Congress to change federal law in ways that let DoD use more of its own judgment.
