There are two kinds of fire...there is the fire from above and the fire from below. Pentecost is about the fire from above (we will speak more about that next Sunday). The fire from below is about revolution... and its consequences. Dostoevsky described revolution as "fire in the minds of men." Revolutionary men go to university below ground, absorbing many fiery ideas of hell... that they in turn have spread abroad in our times... We need to build a fire wall to protect ourselves from these dangerous ideas. And this can only be done by putting on the mind of Christ, which requires faith and that we be thinking with ascent. The mind of Christ is found by studying our Catechism and knowing the lives of the Saints.
