303 Ten Thousand Hour Rule – EverGreen Content – And So Much More!

The Cliff Ravenscraft Show - Mindset Answer Man show

Summary: The 10,000 Hour Rule by Malcolm Gladwell Many people believe that Malcolm Gladwell teaches that you have to work for 10,000 hours in a specific area before you become an expert. This could not be further from the truth, and in this episode of the Podcast Answer Man I explain what the rule actually says, and how that relates to my desire to produce a podcast episode every single week without fail. However, I also explain that I’m taking next week off and why there won’t be a new episode of the Podcast Answer Man until I return on April 18th.     Personal Plug of the Week This week’s Personal Plug of the Week is Lourdes Welhaven. She has a podcast called, The Networker for Business Women and that can be found at networkerforbusinesswomen.com. In episode 10 she interviewed Kelly Costello, a recent participant in Shark Tank. It’s a very informative interview, and I encourage you tocheck it out. If you listen to it and enjoy it, be sure to let her know you enjoyed it and that you heard about her podcast from the Podcast Answer Man.     So Why the New Pop Filter? Brian called the Voicemail Feedback Hotline to say that he noticed that my equipment package now includes a new pop filter. He was about to purchase the one that I previously recommended and wanted to know why I made the change, and the benefits of each of the pop filters. I go into the full story of why I made the switch and what my thoughts are on the new pop filter compared to the old one.     LeadPlayer Plugin Update A special thank you to Sarah who called in and gave a very important update about the LeadPlayer plugin. When I originally promoted this plugin, the main benefit that I promoted was that the plugin allowed you to embed an unlisted YouTube video without having to link back to the original video on YouTube. This kept the video private from anyone not on your site. Sarah informed me that unfortunately, this is no longer a feature within the LeadPlayer plugin, but she explains why she still finds this plugin valuable. I also give my updated thoughts on this as well.     Is There Really a Longer Load Time with Archive.org? Tony called in to question the thoughts I recently shared related to issues with using archive.org as a podcast media host. I had stated that people often experience slow load times with archive.org. The issue with this is that longer load times have the potential to result in the loss of new subscribers to your show. Tony shared that he did a comparison between the load time of Podcast Answer Man and his show which is hosted on archive.org; he found that there is only a two-second difference. In this episode I share my thoughts related to Tony’s research and also give some additional thoughts on archive.org.     Evergreen Content and it’s Value in iTunes Thanks to Derrick for calling in and giving me feedback about the evergreen content he found on virtualassistantpodcast.com. I started producing this podcast three years ago, and only produced 38 episodes over a nine-month period of time. Derrick’s call is a perfect example of how this podcast still benefits me and my brand, even today, and makes clear why I’m thankful that iTunes still includes podcast content even when episodes haven’t been produced for a long period of time.     New Media Expo Dates Announced New Media Expo has released the dates for NMX 2014. The conference will be held on January 4-6 in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you sign up before April 19 at NewMediaExpo.com , you can purchase a Content Creator pass for only $197. No affiliate link is necessary, and no commissions are offered to me; however, I strongly encourage you to sign up as quickly as possible to take advantage of this $197 opportunity.     Upcoming Event Schedule One of my favorite things about traveling to, and speaking at conferences, is meeting members of my community.
