Mind, Body and Soul Show show

Summary: Take responsibility and then be fully accountable. Those are the first of many “words to live by” offered by Zara Green, life coach and author. On the “Mind, Body and Soul Show” with Coach Steve Toth, Zara said she believes that people should optimize their individuality and “make the most of what they know about themselves.” Often people live by standards set by others. “Set your own standard,” she said, “so you can see your own progress. The ideal way of living is to live your own best (life).” Zara, speaking her own kind of word songs, said that no one can do everything well. “There are some things we do well and some things we cannot do. I am not strong in science and mathematics,” she said. “By knowing and accepting this it helps me be clear about who I am. That’s true authentic living.” Being clear about strengths and weaknesses helps people understand the bigger spectrum and helps equip people to respond and not react when difficulties arise. “Grown people define themselves in times of trouble,” she said. Powerful words to live by, according to Zara includes “resilience.” “It ought to be a household word,” she said. “it’s that bounce-back ability that’s important…how long does it take you to bounce back” she asked. After surviving Hurricane Katrina where Zara lost her material possessions and couldn’t find her relatives for several days she said the biggest trauma she faced was losing her life’s work that had been stored on her computer, etc. “I’ve got to keep on going. As long as my life is going, I’ve got to enjoy it, and that’s what my work is to me,” she said. It took her a short time to regroup and she asked, “Come on Life, is that all you got? When you set your mind to whatever you want, it doesn’t matter what life throws at you.” “Make your next decision better than your last,” she said, adding to her word songs. By taking responsibility and living in truth we get a “LEG Up,” (Learn, Embrace and Grow Up), which is the name of Zara’s blog. Each person has their good, bad and ugly. Life has its good, bad and ugly. “The moment we start resisting we stop the flow of anything good. You can’t change it, so embrace it. It’s about how you’re going to treat it when it shows up,” she said. “I even get on my own nerves. But you know what? I know I’m going to do certain things. I’m ok with that.” Just love your life the way it is… the good, the bad and the ugly. Listen to Zara’s interview here http://www.realcoachingradio.net/mindbodyandsoul or subscribe to the RSS feed.
