What is a Podcast?
A podcast is like an online radio show that is split up into episodes. Think of it as a TV program. You can listen to it on your computer, iPod, or another MP3 device, whenever you want. The best part, is that when a new episode is out, it automatically updates to the new one for you. Once you've subscribed to the Podcast, the new episodes will automatically be downloaded and ready to listen to as soon as they are released. How awesome is that?!
How do I Subscribe/Tune In?
The first thing we need to do is make sure that you have a “Client” (Program) capable of listening to the Podcast. Here is a list of some free clients available and where you can download them.
iTunes: http://www.itunes.com (West 49 Recommended)
iPodder Lemon: http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/
iPodderX: http://ipodderx.com/
Now that you have a client, follow the instructions below to subscribe to the Podcast.
iTunes:
1. Click on the West 49 Podcast icon above
2. This should have automatically opened up to the iTunes Store.
3. Click on the Subscribe button to subscribe to the show.
4. Enjoy!
*If that doesn’t work for you, below are the manual instructions for adding the Podcast:
1. Open iTunes.
2. Highlight this URL Address: http://www.west49.com/podcast/podcast.xml
3. Right Click on what you have just highlighted and click Copy.
4. Switch back into iTunes.
5. Click on Advanced at the top.
6. Select Subscribe to Podcast.
7. In the URL field, right click, and Paste the URL Address from above that you have just copied.
8. Hit OK and rock out!
*If you have an iPod, iTunes will automatically update the show right onto your iPod.
iPodder Lemon:
1. Open iPodder Lemon.
2. Highlight this URL: http://www.west49.com/podcast/w49podcast.xml
3. Right Click on what you have just highlighted and click Copy.
4. Switch back into iPodder Lemon.
5. Click on the Subscriptions tab at the top.
6. Click the little green plus sign to add a new subscription.
7. In the URL field, right click, and Paste the URL that you copied above.
8. Hit Save and its go time.
iPodderX:
1. Open iPodderX.
2. Highlight this URL: http://www.west49.com/podcast/w49podcast.xml
3. Right Click on what you have just highlighted and click Copy.
4. Switch back into iPodderX.
5. Open the Podcasts menu and click on Add A Podcast.
6. There are now 4 fields that we need to fill out.
7. In the Podcast Feed URL, right click & Paste the URL that you
copied.
8. In the Check Behaviour field decide if you want past episodes, or just the newest one.
9. The other two fields don’t really matter.
10. Finally click on Add Feed.
11. The only thing about iPodderX is that you may have to check for updates by clicking Check Podcasts/Feeds on the bottom righthand side.

How do I get it onto my MP3 Player?
For those of you with an iPod, you can set up iTunes to automatically “sync up” (add) the
episodes onto your iPod. For those, iPod-less folks, heres how you can find the MP3 file on your computer.
1. On the lower left hand side, click on the Start button.
2. Look for a menu button called Search and click on that.
3. A new window will open, Click on Pictures, Music, or Video.
4. Check off the box that says Music.
6. In the text field, type West 49, and hit enter.
7. Voila! You have just found the West 49 Battle of the Bands Podcasts.
8. And finally, use whatever software you use to put MP3’s onto your MP3 player, listen, and impress everyone you know by telling them that you Podcast!
