"Neither black nor white..."

I've culled about 30 or so songs for the next mix, and seeing as how I had like 20 leftovers from the first one, that might turn out to be two new mixes, which would be nice because I'm hoping to have enough of these things to span four or five hours worth of music. I'm trying to design them so that they'll be interchangeable, too.

I'm getting kind of excited about The Dark Knight and it's been a while since I've been to the theatre. Considering how much of an influence Batman Begins was on Hero For a Day, I'm really excited to see how closely they're building on the style and feel they set up in the first film. I think that had a lot to do with why the first one was so good. They made Gotham feel like a real place instead of a gimmicky comic city or a theme park. With that cornerstone in place the characters seemed to fit right in. That heightened sense of realism was something I was going for in HFAD and I hope I nailed it as it's a trend I'd like to retain for more of my work in the future.

Speaking of HFAD, I'm thinking of finally putting it on YouTube now that they have this new "High Quality" feature. I'm a little skeptical, but if it makes the flick look better than their normal resolution then I guess it's worth a try. Stay tuned for news on how that goes.

I'm also very stoked about getting the parts for my Le Tour ordered this weekend so I can get that mother back on the road. Here's some pictures of it in its current state.

"another killin' on the dancefloor..."

I don't know why I keep waiting until I'm falling asleep on the keyboard to do updates. I've gotta stop doing that.

I've begun preliminary work on another mix, but I'm sifting through so much music right now that it's hard to focus. Hating starbucks more than usual lately. I don't know why for sure. I just wish I was doing something else. I don't imagine I'm in the minority.

I drove by the radio station the other day and the whole building had been bulldozed. I guess they're getting a new facility or something, but I just didn't expect it to be gone. It kind of hurt. That job was the best I've ever had and I didn't like seeing a place I had such fond memories attached to just destroyed. I saw some pretty great sunsets from the upper levels and I had more than my fair share of fun in the studio, not to mention make my on-air debut as the King Bee, thanks in no small part to the podcast. Oh well. That and all my other recent depressions were made a little easier to bear today because of my...

So fresh.

"black is the color..."

I'm freaking out about school...and other things. I feel trapped...big time. I want out.

Ugh.

Stan Winston died...

As a kid who grew up watching the Terminator and Predator movies, not to mention fucking Jurassic Park, I will really miss the work of the man that singlehandedly made me forever terrified of dinosaurs. Godspeed.

"without the soul for getting down..."

I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of stoked about this Wanted movie. It looks like total ass, but I was doing some reading and I found out that it's loosely based on a supposedly awesome graphic novel by Mark Millar. That's the guy who wrote Superman: Red Son, one of the best Superman stories ever conceived and right up there with Watchmen and Kingdom Come in terms of my favorite graphic novels. Anyway, I couldn't help noticing the resemblance between the Wanted comic's main character and another superheroic character of my own creation...pretty neat considering I'd never heard of it until now.

Anyway, aside from a head full of phlegm, I'm feeling a lot better and looking forward to getting back on my bike. I'm not so much looking forward to getting back to work. =( Oh well. I'm sure they miss me there. I heard Daft Punk have once again re-worked their hits into a 17-minute mix for a Louis Vuitton fashion show. Neat, but still fairly weak sauce. Enough celebrity posturing. Where the fuck is the new album you pompous french pricks?!

Anyway, there's a new sheriff in town...see the below post.

"Talkin' to you makes me wanna shake and shout..."

My first house mix, Beware The Moon: A Night Out with American Werewolf is now online and ready for listening! You can download the whole thing right here. It's less than a hundred megs, and it's 80 minutes long, so you'll have to excuse the 160kbps bit rate. It was the best quality I could get for that file size. Anyway, enjoy!

"I happily have to disagree..."

What a difference a year makes. I now truly understand the concept of "full circle".

I went to the doctor yesterday and found out I have an upper respiratory system infection. The fever sucks a lot, but it's giving me some interesting dreams, mostly about cycling. I can't wait to get my Le Tour on the road. All the cycling folk I've told about it say it's a great find, and that'll probably last longer than me. Maybe I can pass it on to my kid someday.

I don't know what brought on my sickness. Maybe too much blogging! Probably just the heat. Anyway, being sick sucks. =(
