Cum and Go

A number of you have written me in the last few months. A few of you wrote to ask what was going on with the show, but for the most part, you wrote to ask about me and how I was doing. I was touched that the majority of interest was not in the show itself, but in me and my life. I wanted to take a few minutes and thank you all for your continued interest and support.

Back in January I talked a bit cryptically on the show about wanting to go in a new direction. I just wasn't sure at the time what that direction was and I'm still not, but I am a bit more certain now about what that direction is not. It has been a few months since I posted a show, so this may just be an explicit statement of the obvious. I have decided to discontinue publication of the Gay Sexcapades Podcast for the foreseeable future. This site will remain and you will still be able to access past shows.

Why? No, I didn't find a boyfriend. In fact, I'm at a place right now where I have realized that I am happier when I'm single and I'm content in that realization. And no, I haven't stopped nailing hot college boys. I've simply lost interest in the concept of podcasting and what it has evolved into.

During the course of producing this show over the last several years, my passion for doing so and my interest in podcasting in general slowly eroded away due to circumstances beyond my control. The most significant of these has been the extraordinarily fast commercialization of podcasting. When I started this show, podcasting was an intimate, amateur, hobbyist technology. That fact made it a perfect medium for small niche communities. Thanks to the alleged "creators" of podcasting selling out and abandoning the grass roots movement that truly did create the medium, podcasting stopped being fun. Podcasting gave the little guys a voice, then proceeded to drown us all out.

Another reason I no longer feel a passion for making this show can be blamed on the gay community. We desperately want to be included and treated as equals and yet, we are the most internally divisive minority I have ever come across. We subdivide our own community to the point of ostracizing our own kind from that community. I had hopes that the gay podcasting community might avoid doing so, but those hopes were quickly dashed by a podcaster named after an ex-President and an X-Files character with a little help from half of the "meal of idiots".

My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who enjoyed this show and especially to those of you who took the time to write and tell me so. You are the people who made producing this show worth it. The Gay Sexcapades Podcast was something new. Something no one had tried before. Some called it "groundbreaking". I'm not sure I would go that far, but I deeply appreciate the sentiment nonetheless.
