Dear Colleague

As I am sure you know, I very strongly believe that a radical new type of leadership and management is needed in organisations now and into the future.
Transpersonal coaching is at the cutting edge and now more than ever vitally needed by business, individuals and humanity if we are to build a world we wish to live and work in that is mutually sustainable and beneficial to us all.

When coaches, leaders and managers are familiar with the transpersonal dimension in themselves and the methods of addressing it in others, their capacity to help others is greatly enhanced. Even the most pragmatic of coaching interventions, such as daily task performance, is enhanced if the coach holds a transpersonal perspective. While we as coaches hopefully work from the coachee's agenda, we should never forget that we provide the container or the context for the coaching, so we do influence the process anyway, whether we choose to or not. Being conscious of how we influence the coaching relationship is crucial, both ethically and for maximum effectiveness.

A range of transpersonal tools and techniques are invaluable in helping people to reach the higher levels of performance, to fulfil their potential and especially to achieve in leadership positions. Transpersonal coaching is an empowering process which helps clients discover the power and effectiveness of who they really are. This core, source of our deepest values and qualities, is a well-spring of real strength, creativity and actualisation. Operating from this core enables clients to connect with their staff, the vision of the organisation and the global context fully and effectively.

To this end I am delighted to announce and participate in a programme that will be run in association with the AC in Ireland on 29 and 30 September 2008.

With warmest regards

Sir John Whitmore

CPD Coaching And Mentoring Short Courses

I often get asked about how to continue your development as a coach once you have completed your core coach training.

One of the resources I think is very helpful is that of the short course curriculum hosted by
Oxford Brookes University at their Centre for Coaching and Leadership Development (CCLD).

Courses are offered at all levels to suit experienced coaches or mentors, managers, purchasers or HR professionals who are involved with coaching and mentoring within organisations.

Association For Coaching In Ireland Masterclass: Developing A Coaching Culture

If you are an HR professional, talent manager or business coach, you night be interested in joining us for the next Association for Coaching in Ireland masterclass, 'The Benefits Of Developing A Coaching Culture'.

The event will tak place on Tuesday 20 May, 2008 in Dublin and on Wednesday 21 May 2008 in Belfast.

It will feature a case study of how Irish call centre Gem is using coaching to enhance organisational performance and is being led by Andrea Close Quality Manager for Gem, and Carole Pemberton, of Coaching to Solutions.

At this event we will explore a case study of how Gem is creating a coaching culture. Gem was established in 2000 and is a privately owned outsource contact centre based in Belfast delivering innovative services for market leading organisations across a wide range of geographic regions, sectors and channels.

Employing over 1000 people, Gem is dedicated to delivering outstanding results for our clients and our performance has been recognised through the many industry awards for recruitment, training, innovative use of technology and business development.

Gem faces the challenges of every call centre - how to engage, motivate and retain a young, educated and mobile workforce, so that its level of service delivery meets client needs.  Their answer has been to develop an approach to coaching that aligns with their culture and values, an approach that makes coaching a part of how people work together.

Details of how to book to attend the Association for Coaching in Ireland masterclass can be found online.

In the session I will be drawing on my 20 years of executive coaching and recent research I have undertaken about what executives look for and value when they work with a coach especially when they are facing the “performance edge” – the tightrope that we all tread between breakthrough and breakdown and how can we as professional coaches ensure that we are equipped to support them.

I'm looking forward to attending and especially to hearing about coaching in the Police Service in Northern Ireland.

Writing Reviews To Attract More Coaching Clients

If you are looking to position yourself as a thought leader in your field of coaching, one of the opportunities that many people forget to use is that of becoming a central resource for their clients and potential clients.

By keeping up to date with the leading edge thinking in your area from books to research, your clients will soon come to realise that you know your area of expertise.

In addition, writing reviews of those books or reports with your perspective is also a valuable resource, and increasingly you can do this online at your website, business blog or even sites such as Amazon.com.

A relatively new service is available online called Loudervoice dedicated to reviews.

You can register for a free account at Loudervoice and you can post your reviews directly on the site or from your own business blog, from your phone or from micro blogging sites such as Twitter.

So the next time you read a coaching or leadership book or report, consider consolidating your views, add your perspective and then write up and post the review for the benefit of your own coaching clients and to attract more coaching clients.
