By the way, in the podcast I mistakenly call my Oktava condenser microphone a MK-619 instead of a MK-319. Here is the list of links promised in the the podcast.

Epilogue to Episode 4 - Bad Gigs Gone Good... or Not

Monday, October 15. 2007

I was looking back on what I've done in this blog and did a little research and found this gem out on the internet, the from the Daily Herald quote I'm about to use is pretty self-explanatory, except for one thing I'll clear up after...(The quote is a link to the original article, which will open in a new window)

The Lions were able to hold their pork chop dinner and bingo on Sunday inside the pavilion at Lions Park, and the beer garden remained open.

All other Sunday events were canceled, but again, people rose to the occasion.

Instead of playing only three hours as scheduled, entertainers Pete and Tim played for seven and a half hours at the beer garden, according to Al Lee, Lions Club treasurer and beer garden manager.

"Even though most of us were wet and muddy, we had fun," Lee said. "A lot of my friends said it was the best Elburn Days ever."

If you didn't notice my name anywhere in the quote, that's because it wasn't there. I was filling for one of the entertainers, so I was "Pete for a Day". Ah the joys of being an unknown musician. Good press, even if you are the only one who knows.

Something New...

Friday, July 20. 2007

I've decided to give something a try that might help me be more regular in updates in its own way. I'm going to try a podcast. I recently found a new service called Talkshoe, which allows for the recording and storage of interactive podcasts. I think this blog really fits there, especially since I tend to work better with feedback. And that's what this allows. If you sign up for a Talkshoe account, you can participate in the podcast by voice via telephone or VoIP, or you can sit in a chat room listening to the live podcast and basically use chat text features. And once the live session is finished, you can download or listen to past episodes as well as subscribe to one via RSS feed.

If you want to check it out live, once you've created a free Talkshoe account (if you just want to listen with no feedback options, you don't have to create an account) search for either the title of the podcast which is Common Time: The Aural Report or by the talkcast ID# 42450. That will take you to a page where you can find out when the next podcast is scheduled or listen to past podcasts. Everyone is welcome, come and listen or talk or type... whatever you want. And if you have any ideas about what topics you'd like to talk about, drop me an e-mail at jim@jamesgoodrich.net

The topic of my first podcast will be Auditions and Contests. If the urge hits stop by and see what this is all about.
